Cue the super-sad Hulk walking away music up and watch as the Halo 3 beta hitchhikes away again, off to find another job as a cook in a small town that doesn't know his terrible secret. You've just got a few more hours of lasering and Warthogging and bubble shielding before you're cut off for 107 entire days. Soak it up my friends, soak it up.
But don't be sad. See, we found a farm that has a lot of other Halo 3 betas on it. It'll have plenty of room to run around and shoot itself out of man cannons. It's just going to love it there. What's that? Can you visit the Halo 3 beta? ... Well, no. See, the farm is really far away. But if you comment in this thread with some of your happiest memories, it'll be almost like it never died! Wait, did we say died? We meant moved to the farm. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Codemasters have announced that an Overlord demo is now available from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The new demo weighs in at 891.8mb.
Overlord is a title that gives players a horde of gremlin-like critters and a land to set them loose in. Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord’s Dark Tower. Only the player’s actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it’s all down to how much of a bad ass they want to be in order to succeed… evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humour and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters.

Microsoft is starting to realize that it's going to take a lot more than a couple of pinatas to expand their Xbox audience. Worried that the 360 will get "pigeonholed as a hard-core machine", Microsoft is looking at this holiday season to see what can be done. Though he declined to say for sure whether or not Microsoft will reduce the cost of the Xbox 360, David Hufford (a director of Xbox product management), sees the potential for making it more affordable for the consumer:
We are well aware that the sweet spot of the market is really 199 bucks... (The Wii, at $250, makes a)strong value proposition. When mom walks into the store and sees she can get a console with a game for $250, she sees it as a $300 value. They've done a good job.'
Sony sold 75 million PlayStation 2s at or below that price, but it's unclear if Microsoft can price the Xbox 360 that low when they already lose money on each console that is sold. An analyst predicts that this Christmas, they'll need to have as many consoles out there so that fans can help them cash in by buying games. I don't mind helping them out this year, as long as I don't see another red ring of death from now until Christmas.
A new Timeshift trailer has been released to the Xbox 360 Marketplace.
Timeshift is a First Person shooter which allows the player to manipulate time. Set in an engrossing storyline, gamers must learn to master this new skill while navigating through the new universe and ultimately complete the adventure. Using Saber Interactive’s proprietary Saber3D Engine, the "TimeShift" story will progress through virtual environments of cinematic quality, and the game’s sophisticated AI will challenge gamers to think creatively on how to use their new powers.
