But what seemed simple turns out to be complicated the closer you get to the actual purchase decision. One can’t tell whether it’s better or worse, but there are high expectations for the Amazon Game called New World. MMO fans eagerly look forward, hoping for a new experience in a fresh setting. Amazon is betting big on New World, especially after the disappointment of its earlier game, Crucible.
New World hasn’t had a smooth sailing development process, though. For instance, the game development was slowed down, presumably due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
It’s not been all gloomy, though. The extra time made available allowed developers to improve New World’s combat systems after thorough testing. One can now safely say that New World has shrugged off the shaky start, and for MMO fans, the countdown has begun till the 31st of August, when the game will be released.
It’s important for Amazon that the game brings them success. Now, the question arises, which platforms will it be available on? The best strategy for all games to achieve popularity is to put them on as many gaming platforms as possible, as was the case with Genshin Impact. However, Amazon Games has mentioned a release date only for PCs. Do they have plans to release them on gaming consoles like the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S is the million-dollar question.
What are the Chances of New World Being Available on Xbox?
Theoretically, the next-generation consoles which were introduced only last year have the hardware capability necessary to run New World. That includes Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. That said, which platforms a game is released on is entirely the developers’ discretion.
Things, unfortunately, are looking gloomy for MMO fans playing the games on consoles, be it the new generation ones or the older ones and the Nintendo Switch. While neither the Amazon Games Studio nor Double Helix Games have said much about releasing New World on Xbox, a tweet made in reply to a Twitter user has made things bluntly clear. On being asked whether the game would be available on Xbox, the game's developers came up with a very direct and in-your-face tweet saying that it wouldn't. It was also confirmed that there was no plan either to make it available on gaming consoles.
There might, of course, be plans of the game being launched on consoles sometime in the days to come, but there is no strong possibility of that happening anytime in the immediate future. Gamers on consoles, therefore, should make no immediate plans.
