Konami Digital Entertainment today announced the return of its veteran Frogger character, with Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition hopping on to PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3, Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and WiiWare for Wii in the Spring, 2012.
The classic coin-op's mix of skill and timing returns in its most challenging form yet, as Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition updates the core mechanics, but adds a wealth of new content and ideas. With the game currently celebrating 30 years of car-dodging, log-jumping, and road-traversing, players can jump into the action with classic and brand-new game modes including Tile Capture, Battle Royale, Freak Out and more that expand the challenge of Frogger's style of run-and-dodge gameplay.
Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition also allows users to customise their game experience through a variety of different skins, from the modern neon style of Hyper Arcade to the 8-bit sprites from the original Frogger, the classic Castlevania titles, and even Contra. Competitive types can also compete against friends or the CPU in up to four-player matches to find out who is top frog!

"Frogger® 2" will be the second of this weeks new titles to be released for Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (1:00 a.m. PDT).
Hop along with Frogger® 2 as you travel through more than fifteen challenging levels filled with new enemies and obstacles. Each of the five exotic environments provides a new set of challenges, but beware of the bosses that try to thwart your progress. Compete with up to four friends in two different online multiplayer modes, and hop your way to victory.
Developed by Voltex, "Frogger 2" offers two online multiplayer modes, Race Mode and Jewel Duel, which allows xbox live arcade players to compete with up to four players. "Frogger 2" will be available for 800 Microsoft Points ($10).
Being a dev on an unsuccessful XBLA title must be incredibly disappointing and frustrating.
Jeff Minter, founder of Llamasoft and the fella behind Space Giraffe, recently went on a tirade about the lack of sales of his XBLA title, putting the blame directly on his intended audience.

not seeing a lot of reason to continue even trying to make games, at this point, when a remake of Frogger, one of the worst games in the history of old arcade games, can outsell Space Giraffe that we put so much love and effort into, by more than ten to one, in one week.
OK, we get the message. All you want on that channel is remakes of old, sh*te arcade games and crap you vaguely remember playing on your Amiga. We’ll shut up trying to do anything new then. Sorry for even trying.
