We have released a limited edition of NME-360 Chips. This is a pre-version of our final design. Just to keep things rolling we decided to release them to the public, So whenever you will find an NME Chip that looks like this, you can be sure to have a genuine NME-360 Chip plus keep it in honour because we made just a pretty small batch (<1000 pcs). Please make sure that you connect this chip to 3.3v instead of 5v on the board. We will ammend our diagrams very soon.
Team-xecuter.com posted more details about their XHM Project where they'll release all info/schematics and sourcecode that will allow you to make a homemade DVD patchmod for Xbox360:
Here's a few preliminary details of the project
We decided on using Ubicom SX series of chips. It will work on any chip from SX18 upwards. Decision to do this was 3 fold:
1. There are a lot of ppl out there who can understand the language. Many of the PS2 homebrew projects were done using this PIC (ICE Modchip Project etc).
2. Its one of the fastest pics - does a lot of jobs that a cpld would do (not as good granted - but easier for hobbiests to work with)
3. There are a shat load of docs on this chip and language. Plus there are loads of homebrew programmers available - the best being "Fluffy2" - http://www.semis.demon.co.uk/Sx/SXmain.htm
4. Its cheap. You can source the pics from $1 upto $5 - not hard to find. Ive asked one of our suppliers to see if they can get large batchs to give out to retailers at cost - but google is your friend also (example here)
5. You don't need to use a pcb - although we will rls a schemtic for those who have the facilities. You can get PCB's made for about $1-$2 - no doubt a few stores will supply hobbiests.
Lots of news from team xecuter today: 3 new Xbox 360 products (info/schematics/code for homemade DVD patchmod, X360 USB and Unlock Kit v2) and 1 new Xbox product (X3IR USB).
* Xecuter(info) 360 Homebrew Modchip Project (XHM)
Team Xecuter has decided to break away from its usual business model by starting the scene's very first homebrew 360 modchip project (XHM for short)
We have designed and tested a mod that patches the dvd firmware on-the-fly and works with all Hitachi and Samsung drives.
For Samsung it currently auto detects if the game is a backup and patches the firmware, if the game is an original it goes to sleep and no patching is done at all. For Hitachi the current code is manual enable/disable but we will soon implement an auto method, or one of you may beat us to it
Basically what we are doing is releasing to the xbox scene, for the very first time, modchip development and putting it in the hands of scene hobbyists. We will provide the complete source code and schematics where you will be able to see exactley how its all done - and make improvements and changes yourselves!
We all know how the homebrew scene works and how fast development can grow in a short period, so now is the time to put it to the test.
O.P.A. released a new version of their Hitachi-LG firmware package that now comes with support to extract the Security Sectors (SS) using the drive under windows and has further improved flashing and restoring:
* ALL NEW XTREME V2.0 FIRMWARE FOR ALL BUILDS OF THE HITACHI DRIVES!
-Now includes "Security Sector Extraction" for all Hitachi Drive
-No other improvements, same as our earlier "Xtreme v1.3", this release just supports SS Extraction within Windows without the need to re-flash your drive back and forth between PLAY & RIP!
Team Underdog posted a guide on how to make dumps for the NME-360(buy for Hitachi/Samsung) patchmod using the SH-D162C PC DVD-drive with Kreon's modified firmware (note that this drive can't be used to extract Secuirty Sectors yet) and they also posted info about NME-360 clones:
Check the HOWTO Section for a supercomplete tutorial about how to create a backup for the NME-360 Modchip using the Samsung SH-D162C PC DVD-drive.
We see clones of our NME-360 Modchip starting to spread and have some funny surprise for them during the following week ;-)
