A inside source has directly told me that Doom 3 and Lego Star Wars would be 2 of the next few games added to the list of compatible xbox 1 game's. While he didn't give me the full list these are 2 welcome edition's to the BC lineup.
New Super Mario Bros. keeps kicking on retailer's best-seller chart; Table Tennis makes strong debut on Bestbuy.com's best-seller list.
When Rockstar Games announced it was making a Table Tennis game for the Xbox 360, many were skeptical. Some considered it a cynical move by the publisher to put an E-rated fig leaf over the mound of money generated by its M--and briefly AO--rated Grand Theft Auto series. Still others wondered why gamers would pick up a game based on a pastime that's already played indoors.
Well, the naysayers got paddled this week. According to retail figures from Bestbuy.com, Table Tennis was the seventh-most-popular console game in the US. It was one of six Xbox 360 games in the top 10, including Tom Clancy's Advanced Warfighter (third), Madden NFL 06 (eighth), and Call of Duty 2 (ninth). The regular and collector's editions of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the 360 were fifth and sixth. And though raw figures were not provided, it is likely that if sales of the two Oblivions were combined, it would have been the week's top-selling console title.
The two current-gen console games in the top 10 were number-10 Kingdom Hearts II for the PlayStation 2 and the surprising second-place finisher, Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix for the GameCube, which went back into print after a brief hiatus. The top prize, though, was another title starring Nintendo's iconic Italian plumber. DS favorite Super Mario Bros. was once again the week's top title, proving the popularity of both the venerable franchise and the portable platform. Further cementing the DS's status was the number-three game, Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day.

Lots of talk about backwards compatibility online today. We wanted to get to the bottom of it all, so we went right to the team working on the next back compat update. We hear directly from them that they're in the testing phase of another update, and it should be out in the next few weeks. We saw the list they're testing, and it looks like they're hoping to add at least a dozen titles.
Long before the launch, we thought we might hit a few dozen titles, and we all feel pretty good about the list of well over 200 titles on the back compat list today, including many of the games that you've asked for. You all have heard us say the work isn't simple. Many games did unique things to take advantage of the processing power of the Xbox, and that makes it difficult to emulate, especially when we then have to make new code work with existing (and future) compatible titles.
But rest assured, we're not done yet.
We know for a fact that there are lots of people who continue to care about backwards compatibility, including the "Emulation Ninjas" who are working full time on the updates. nd those of us posting on this blog. And, of course, many of you.
Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming update...
It's now official, Tuesday 6th June 2006, a final release date for MC360, the X360 Reproduction skin for XboxMediaCenter(info) 2.0. The team has finalized a name, going with their original codename, 'Team Blackbolt', so this will be the team's collective name from now on.
DJB from XBOX-HQ who created Auto Installer Deluxe for the xbox homebrew scene has only just recently commented on how he has been waiting for this release for sometime now so he can add it to his most recent update pack.. I myself cant wait either.. This skin looks so professionally done im sure even M$ would have given them kudo's..
If you are after the easiest method to install the new skin and your a newbie go for AID3.. It will include the skin as soon as its available. If you have any probs manually installing the skin once it becomes available free free to use the VIP Services on the Xbox-Hq.Com website as we will do our best to support this new cool skin for Xbox Media Center. Feel free to ask for support in our normal forum areas too.. We always try to reply to each and every member..
MC360's release on Tuesday marks the first public beta for the skin. As some of the close followers to the forum topics will know, its been a long winded process but the team is very excited to offer this first glimpse at their hard work. Myself, (Blackbolt), have spent many hours working away on many things, most of my work was done in the first months of design, but at the moment the main coder, Los93soL has been the hardest working team member, much to the dismay of several forum users who challenged his knowledge of MC360's production a few days ago! Bet they feel silly now. Los93soL has created nearly every one of the 164,442 lines of code in the skin, and we still haven't finished our goal of the ultimate 360 gui reproduction. Then we have Donno, our super scripter who for the first time also created XMLs. Kotix (Orbs Creator) and Smokehead (PDM & PM2 Reloaded) also covered us at the read and then there was JMarshall, helping us with XBMC code as we went. We also had help from Deanparry with catching some bugs. Because its taken over 5 months to bring this skin to the public, I will be creating a Developers Diary sort of thing with quotes from MSN and IRC chats between the developers of the skin and screenshots of bugs we found and other cool things, one funny day was when we first did the Full screen vis and video behind the blades in the home screens, the conversations where much like "omfg, the vis r0x0rzzzz!!!111". So until Tuesday, the team will be hammering away at the skin polishing the edges and making sure everything is ready for Joe public to download and slam into his Xbox and get running, so till then, enjoy the wait! :D
Don't forget:
If your having probs installing anything onto your xbox including the new MC360 skin for XBMC come back to xbox-hq.com and we will help you through the process..
Our friendly anonymous source at Microsoft has provided us with a few more details concerning the 360 accessories announced back at E3.
Perhaps the most important involves the bundling of the Xbox Live Vision camera with a wired headset, the popular Live Arcade title UNO, and a month of Live Gold service for $39.99 when it releases in the States on September 19, 2006.
Granted, this is still an unofficial report (based on a leak of "official" info), so understand that you're probably not gonna get much confirmation from MS until they're good and ready to give it. Here's information on what other peripherals are coming out "Holiday 2006" (so sometime in the 4th quarter) and at what price:
- New faceplates featuring Halo, Forza 2, & Viva Pinata for $19.99 each
- Wireless headest with a 30-foot range for $59.99
- 256MB Memory Unit for $59.99
- Wireless gaming receiver for $19.99 (but it'll go on sale in Winter 2007, unlike the others, probably around the month of February)
It's been months since Bethesda Softworks shipped The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and while the company's pimped their downloadable content to no end, a patch to fix some of the rough spots that weren't ironed out before release has been long coming.
At least the wait's not far off now. The company confirmed to 1UP that an official patch is in the final stages of development and certification, and should be available for both PC and Xbox 360 users sometime next week.
But what if you don't have access to Xbox Live? The company's looking into a number of options, including bundling the patch onto a disc with the Official Xbox Magazine. "We'll make it available via whatever means are out there for any game to get updates to people playing the game," said public relations head Pete Hines.
