With Namco's recently released ridge racer finally in my hot little hands i thought id give you all a brief review of the game in general.
Ridge Racer 6 is a arcade style Xbox 360 title. The game features over 130 cars, over eight special machine, and 30 tracks which includes reverse courses.
 The modes which I have played the most are called World Explorer Mode and ofcourse the XBOX LIVE MODE which takes players across all of the game's tracks and allows them to unlock content such as hidden cars as they progress.
In both the single player (offline) and multiplayer (online) battles you will find all achievements have been evenly stretched across the game.. You receive new cars in both the online and offline modes just for competiting.
I found the game very simple to start with but once you really get involved in the game it really starts taking shape and becoming progresively more difficult until you are pulling your hair out.. heheh.
Players will need to choose missions from a game map that consists of hexagonal units connected by dotted lines.
 This means you can progress from race to race based on your own choice of pathway and you don't necessarily have to complete every race in a predetermined order to reach the far right side. If you're able to complete a sequence of hexagons that forms a ring shape you'll unlock the question mark that sits in the middle which is usually a new car.
A brand new feature to the Ridge Racer series is the Nitrous mechanic. By pressing the right trigger on your controller you'll enable a boost to your car's speed.
So how is the gameplay i hear you ask?
Well, I tried out quite a few races in the World Explorer Mode and really only have the final 4 races to complete. I found Ridge Racer 6 to be fun and addictive especially once you get the hang of handling your choice of car in a sideways fashion.
Over the first few races I took control of a couple of really nice cars. Every car in the game has one of three drift types: standard, mild, and dynamic.
Standard is obviously the easiest to control, mild is a little trickier, and dynamic is the most difficult. Gameplay overall offline and online is pretty sweet.. And i noticed no lag in my online tourmanents..
