connectedconsoles.com reports: Modern Warfare 2 hasn't had a perfect run-up to retail especially with the Infamy trailer showing the war coming to the United States. Infinity Ward also announced that the PC version of the game would not have dedicated servers which which caused many gamers to boycott the game. Now, a new video has appeared online which could spark even more controversy.
The video below shows gameplay from one of the game's single player campaign and shows you playing as terrorists in an airport. You then, have to kill as many civilians as possible. Now that, could cause more controversy.. We can see how it could.
Was it me or did this tard just say something about going to the mall to kill everyone in the airport?
Get it together man and edit your vids so you don't look like a goon.
The Gamestop SurprizeAttack promotion have published a new video of a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer map which most of us are yet to see. There is no official name for the map yet but some people are calling it "Rust".

vg247.com are reporting that IW have dropped the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign co-op as it “ruined the experience" the dev was aiming for.
Infinity Ward’s Rob Bowling’s revealed to VG247 that Modern Warfare 2 was initially supposed to have full co-op in the its main Campaign, but was dropped as it “ruined the experience” the developer was aiming for.
The final game instead has Spec Ops mode – a dedicated, mission-based co-op section playable either online or locally in split-screen.
“We did it early on; that’s what Spec Ops started out as, as co-op through story,” said Bowling when asked why Campaign co-op didn’t make the final game.
“But it really broke the cinematic experience, took the immersion out of it, out of the story and the pacing and everything we’d spent so long crafting. It just ruined the experience we were aiming for, so we took it out, kept the single-player for that one player intact and polished it.”
Spec Ops was born from the good parts of the ditched co-op mode, Bowling said.
“But then there were moments that were really fun with two players, so we took those moments and put them in Spec Ops,” he added.
“So you can play moments directly taken from the single-player, in Spec Ops, but it’s polished towards those two players so the experience is pure. You really get the best of both worlds: you get the moments that were fun, but the moments that were shitty we took out.”
We just played a Brazilian Spec Ops level with Rob at a London hotel: it’s awesome. We’ll knock up some impressions tomorrow.
The guys over at Games. On have just published a interview with Modern Warfare 2's lead multiplayer designer Todd Alderman in which he talks about bringing Halo 3 like video sharing options to MW2 as DLC amongst a lot of other matchmaking, default class and other information.
Modern Warfare 2 is undisputedly the most anticipated game of 2009. We were lucky enough to get an invite to Hollywood, Los Angeles, to get some hands-on time with the multiplayer half of the game, where we caught up with lead designer Todd Alderman. As expected, the online part of the game is amazing: a true evolution of what we experienced in the original and without a doubt the must-own frag-fest of the year. We hit Todd up with a few questions about matchmaking, Aussie lag issues and video sharing. Here is what he had to say.
games.on.net: So, this is your baby? I’ve just been playing the hell out of it, it’s awesome!
Todd Alderman: Yes it is my baby, and thank you.
games.on.net: I have a concern though about the disparity between gamers that are about to play for the first time versus those that have levelled through the unlock system. With all these new features how do you ensure newcomers can come in and be competitive and not just be the cannon-fodder for dudes with red-dot sights and all the perks?
TA: The first way we do it is by ensuring the matchmaking system is good. When we matchmake, we match you with players of your skill. So when it is your first time playing online you will be playing against people who, for the most part, are enjoying their first online game as well. We try to find people who are like you.
Another thing we do is give the default classes a lot of stuff that you wouldn’t normally unlock until later. So every default class is a super pro version of that class. They are simply there so you can compete and have things that other people have, but which you might not get for a while in the create-a-class option. You can use these to level-up. For example, one of the classes has the new Tactical Insertion equipment option (a brilliant new device that allows you to mark your next spawn point) which you do not unlock for a while, but new players can experience it straight away.
You might not know what it is at first, but when you see guys spawning all over the place you’ll start wondering, ‘why does that guy get to spawn wherever he wants, that’s not fair, how did he get that?’ That is definitely a big change we’ve made from the last game: everything that was in the default class last game is unlocked as you progress this game. We actually went to our resident pro players that are really, really good and gathered this great information. They told us what they used and why they used it, and helped us define which default class load-out would work best across all game rules.

So there you have it gamers, from the horse’s mouth. It’s particularly interesting that a video sharing feature may be added via DLC down the track. While the lack of an option to region select is worrying, Infinity Ward believe their new matchmaking will make this a non-issue, and hopefully their Aussie employee will raise the alarm if necessary. Later on in the game session we managed to catch up with the networking lead for a casual chat about many things including the X Server, and he expressed enthusiasm about looking into it as a possible option for territories like Australia. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything more.
Microsoft is warning Xbox 360 gamers about a phishing scam involving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be the best-selling game of 2009. Unfortunately, some individuals are trying to take advantage of the hype from the upcoming title by scamming Xbox Live users to reveal their passwords to their accounts. Stephen Toulouse, Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox Live, sent out the following warning to Xbox 360 gamers in the latest Major Nelson Radio podcast:
“We’re starting to see some people, evildoers, who are trying to impersonate people from Infinity Ward or from Microsoft, saying: ‘oh I got the key to the Modern Warfare 2 secret beta, if you just give me your password, I will get you in.’ There is no beta and don’t give out your password.” He later added, “We all got to remember, giving out a password, that’s always a scam. That’s never not a scam.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on November 10th for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Those of you that downloaded and watched the Xbox Live video interview on your Xbox live accounts may recall seeing a screen shot showing an armada of helicopters flying into a city that looks to be under sever attack. This city has been confirmed to be Pittsburgh.
Combining this info with one of the leaked MW2 achievements (of which the complete list can be viewed in our: Modern Warfare 2: achievements section) Called RED DAWN, Leads us to believe that we will indeed get to battle on U.S. soil.
The Red Dawn achievement also mentions a level called WOLVERINE. Red Dawn being the name of a movie where the united states is invaded by the soviets and cubans, and Wolverines being a reference to the small group of teens in the movie that put up a resistance to the invasion. Also the avatar for the Red Dawn achievement is a Swarm of Helicopters.
So it seems only obvious that we will have at least 1 single player map set within the United States. Now for all we know it could be the Roof Top level we all see in the game play videos. We will just have to wait till November to find out for sure.
