 | Take your Xbox to a friends house who has internet.. Then connect it to Xbox LIVE and grab the update.. Once you have done that disconnect from xbox live completely and test that divx/xvid still loads.. If it doesnt you will need to create a new xbox live silver account and login and download on that.. Repeat that process until you get it working offline.
There was a time when MS wouldn't allow anyone to play XVID/DIVX offline but i think they allow it again now. check out forums for more info, search the error code you get on you xbox 360.
