XeLL: Linux Bootloader for Xbox 360 Released

XeLL: Linux Bootloader for Xbox 360 Released
Published by: eltsha on Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Tagged: Homebrew, Xbox 360,

XeLL is the Xenon Linux Loader. It's a second-stage bootloader and is usually run by an exploit.

The method of booting this is not a part of this project. XeLL catches CPU threads, sets them up (basically setting HRMOR to zero), loads an ELF file from either network (tftp) or CDROM, and launches it. It also contains a flat device tree for linux. cdrom.c includes a very simple ISO9660 parser, which tries to boot the file named ""vmlinux".

lwIP (http://www.sics.se/~adam/lwip/) is used for networking. Network config is currently hardcoded in network.c (and main.c). XeLL also contains a HTTP server. It is not really used. XeLL is licensed under the GPL v2, and no other version. Xenon-specific stuff of XeLL was written by Felix Domke , other parts where taken from other free sourcecodes. No non-free hardware documentation was used for developing XeLL. XeLL is in a very early stage, but is (most of the time) fully working

Rainbow Six Vegas and Chromehounds Prices Slashed

Rainbow Six Vegas and Chromehounds Prices Slashed

Best buy has reduced pricing for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, and Chromehounds.

It was brought to my attention that best buy online’s store has slashed the pricing of both of these games. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas by one third, and Chromehounds by two thirds.

Retail you pay $59.99 USD for Rainbow six, best buy is selling for $39.99 USD.

As far as Chrome hounds go, retail for Chrome hounds is 59.99, but has bee as low as 29.99. But best buy’s list price is just 19.99, perhaps from the lack luster scoring of the game.

If you dislike purchasing online, or are impatient you can look for them at your local best buy.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty Announced for Xbox 360!

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty Announced for Xbox 360!
Published by: forahobby on Sunday, March 18, 2007

The new name for Spark Unlimited's alternate-reality shooter is Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Codemasters has revealed. The game's scheduled for a Q4 launch on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this year.

The game's based in 1952 around an alternate reality where Europe failed to stand up to the Nazi invasion, leaving the Germans free to mount a huge assault on American soil.

We're back in first-person shooter territory, and being promised many traditional elements of the genre from the folk that brought us Call of Duty: Finest Hour.

In 1931 Winston Churchill survived being struck by a taxi while crossing the street in New York. What if Churchill had died and wasn’t alive to voice the battle cry that inspired the Allied troops to confront the Nazi war machine? What if England had surrendered to Hitler? What if there was no D-Day, and Pearl Harbor never happened? What if the United States never entered WWII until WWII came knocking at its front door?

In the midst of this evolved WWII reality, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty opens in 1952 as Nazi forces land a well planned surprise attack on the gateway of the United States eastern coast - New York. Nazi battleships quickly take the harbour, German aircraft pound the city streets with ordinance, and Zeppelins and assault blimps deploy troops to take the city block by block. With New York falling to pieces, and Washington D.C. in enemy sights, will anyone be able to stop the Nazi Blitzkrieg on American soil.

Striking a unique balance between wartime authenticity while also bringing a fresh perspective to the WWII genre through an alternate timeline and advanced weaponry, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty will be a very personal battle for the player. As a civilian in these new battlegrounds, it’s time to fight afresh against the world’s most notorious war machine.

"Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is creating new settings for this stuff, so while you're fighting in New York you've got the statue of liberty as a backdrop, you've got the Chrysler building, the Empire State building; we're expanding on the kind of World War II gameplay people love, but we're taking it to places people haven't seen before. We're taking this setting of New York that people know so well, and using it to create arresting and exciting wartime imagery. It's this freshness that we think is really going to appeal, along with gameplay elements we'll reveal in due course."

Fight your way over to the Turning Point: Fall of Liberty website for more information.
