I use a medium difficulty first time through, I want a good challenge, but want to complete it before I try the harder difficulty, still gives me something to look forward to second time round.

I was curious, when you pick up a brand new game you have been looking forward to playing, and you are about to play it all the way through for the very fist time, what do you choose on the option screen for difficulty? and Why do you choose that particular difficulty?
Me, I have this problem where I have a blast with a game the first time through but after that 80% of the fun is gone if I play it through again (single player). Also I am very goal oriented. So I choose Hardest difficulty first time through. I feel like I want the greatest challenge and want it first time through. not because I am a bad ass gamer, often I get really pist and almost start the game over on easy just to get past a section I have done dozens of times and cant get past, I have to turn it off, cool down and come back later, sometimes if I really have trouble I will look to see how someone else did it on youtube to get some ideas, but I always make it through.
once I complete the game and if Played again later, I will usualy do it on an easier difficulty just to have some fun with it.
I usually start out on a medium or easy difficulty. I can't really say I start one more than others so I will put up a list of games and what I started on.
Tenchu Z: Easy
Gears of war 1: Easy
Gears of war 2: Hardcore
Halo 3:Normal
Call of duty 4: Recruit
Call of duty 5 WAW: The one right before veteran (I think it's hardened?)
Mass effect: normal
Halo wars: easiest
Guitar hero 2: easy
Guitar hero 3: medium
Rock band 2: expert _________________________________________________________

I usually start a game on easy, play 10 - 15 minutes then start again on normal.
Use that 10 - 15 minutes to get used to the control scheme. _________________________________________________________ Mattster

I'm with you elusiv1. I never play games on the easiest setting, personally i think it defeats the object if it is not a challenge, but it depends what you are after when you play a game. Sometimes though if a game gets too hard, it puts me off playing it. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

I usually start a new game on normal difficulty just to give me a good challenge but not so hard that I cant beat it. Then I'll go back and play on the hardest difficulty for achievements etc. _________________________________________________________
