Ok i think you guys are missing my question here,
The question is, This infectus program or mod chip , is it worth buying to retrieve the key or is it just like a Jtag , it has to be a certain dash to retrieve the key.
That is mainly what I wanted to know and gave you the link to check it out.

If u have lost keys from the dvd rom drive on ure 360..or they do not match..as in do not work.

About the CPU key, I am not 100% sure but I think you can read the cpu key from any xbox 360 (non-jtagable too)
The difference is that you cant overwrite the Nand but you can read it.

Nope, you cannot obtain the CPU key without the JTAG exploit. You can read and write with it without the JTAG exploit. The NAND is encrypted with the CPU key, there is no way to obtain the CPU key without the linux distro XeLL/XeLLous as I stated in my post above. _________________________________________________________

OK THE DVD-ROM DRIVE I HAVE IS A BENQ,
THIS ISNT THE orignal DVD DRIVE THAT CAME WITH the 360.
THE QUESTION WAS CAN I USE "INFECTUS" TO RETIEVE THE CPU OR KEY THAT THE DVD ROM WILL RECONIZE? (HOPING TO GET THE KEY SO I COULD CHANGE THE KEY MANUALLY TO THE DVD SO THAT IT WOULD RECONIZE THE MOTHERBOARD.

IF I HAVE AJTAGED XBOX 360 CAN I READ THE KEY FROM ONE XBOX TO ANOTHER TO GET THE KEY?

all that really needs to be done is to read the key on the motherboard, changed the key on the dvd drive so that it matches the key on the mother board.....is that how it works? that is all that really needs to be said . yes it can be done or no it can not be done

Ok to clear this up all over again.
If the drive that was in the xbox is not the same drive that matches the motherboard of the 360 all it does is play dvds ok we are this far now that is done if the dash is higher then 7171 there is no way to retrieve the key off the motherboard as of right now as the jtag ways have been closed up by microsoft. Now that being said.....
The infectius chip ok this can pull a key yes off the dvd drive and consoles that can be jtaged it works with them otherwise no this chip would be worthless for you to buy if you console can not be jtagged. But if you want to waste your money and buy it go for it
They might find a way some day for it to be done on newer dashes but this has yet to be found. Sell the dvd drive or keep it as a backup Benqs get $25-35 on ebay alone if they work perfect. I would keep as a backup sell the motherboard itself or toss it in the trash.
So all in all No you can not and not be able to get the freaking key off the motherboard unless your dash is 7171 or under. go to system settings highlight over the dashboard i think it is or system info and you will see kernal version if it is higher then the 7171 then it can not be done as of Right Now!!!!!!
Did some more searching and now i am wondering on this add on for the infectius chip http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php?productid=16509&cat=284&page=1 this added says you can do a timing attach and downgrade the dashboard does anyone know more info on this if it actually works on newer dashboards i am going to have to contact them and find out. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Edit: its been a day or two that i came across that site INFECTUS, for $20us
there program or mod chip might be woth buying if that is possible to down grade the firmware and save the xbox .
