The 360 does have a emulator thats how you play the original xbox games. Whats wrong with the apps on it now? I like my dashboard! The backing up games to a hard drive was only cool for xbox and especially ps2 for cutting out the load times. But nowadays just backup your 360 discs and save all that hard drive space for other cool things! _________________________________________________________
I'm talking like ps2, gamecube, n64, snes emulators. As for the dashboard id rather have one like xbmc or unleashx. Id love to be able to back up games to my hdd, loads times are much faster. I also forgot, it needs ftp support. _________________________________________________________

Well what else does the 360 need that it already hasn't got?
I see no need for it to be hacked apart from running a few emulators that i would love and maybe some homebrew apps but i doubt they will be anything even comparable to the xbox 1 XBMC dash and other features..
The retail M$ Xbox 360 dashboard is already great and personally i dont see the need to be running stuff off the hdd when you can stream via network, usb devices etc etc.
To tell you all the truth, M$ surprise me with every update adding something even cooler to the dashboard. I wonder whats next eh?
M$ released Divx/Xvid support to really stick it to the modders.
I bet with DIVX/XVID now on the 360 theres not much left for the homebrew guys to want apart from emus and small apps, oh and to actually get some code running on it. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

I know that the 360 already has a "media center in it" (although I do not utilize it) but what would the benefits of "modding or hacking" the media center already provided be?

more codecs, maybe youtube integration, streaming videos/music/internet radio easier, possibly msn integration, and maybe a web browser
The biggest one to me that would make it better is more codecs, but I believe microsoft is giving us those in the spring update. So to me there is no need to hack my 360 _________________________________________________________ 360-HQ Toolbar | 360-hq Digg news | 360-HQ Active Topics | 360-HQ Boxxet Page | My Setup
Short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data. Codecs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo and Cinepak.
I myself would love to be able to copy the games onto a hdd just like on the old xbox. Yes it would take up much more space but then you have all your games on one hdd. _________________________________________________________
