Let me start by saying I'm very sorry if this has been posted tons of times before. I'm not very active in the forums anymore these days so I'm out of the loop. I just have a few questions hopefully.
I have a drive that has a completely dead board that I need to swap out with one of the same make. I have three in all of the same, Philips Lite-On. None of the three consoles have been updated in several years.
1. Will that make a difference at all?
2. Should I update them all to the newest dashboards and such?
I'm not up to par on my spoofing info yet. However, I have found a local computer shop that can get the keys off the dead drive, I just don't where to go from there. I'm sure if they can retrieve the keys, they should be able to do what needs to be done. _________________________________________________________

dude, its been years ages since I've spoofed/replaced a drive now. lol. I have an old tutorial which may help you understand a little more but you have probably have already seen it.. Eitherway, here it is:
I guess there wouldn't be much of a difference these days, just more dvd-rom drives types. Some requiring RGH to get the keys too i think. Sounds like the guys who get the keys for you could also reflash them back onto the new drives too. I did heaps of them a few years ago, but i dont have time to repair much these days. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the tutorial. I was just wondering if there was anything I need to tell these guys or do on my end. I'm a noob, so I wasn't sure if updating the xbox from LIVE would update the dvd drive in any way, matching up the two drives I plan to use.
They told me they could grab the key off of the drive so maybe they can swap them out without the need of extra programs. I fear that might steer them away from the job. I just have to ask tomorrow and wanted to get some more information about it before I went. _________________________________________________________

I would try to connect the Xbox 360's to Xbox LIVE and get them updated too, but i would hope that they don't get banned. Have they been modded in anyway or just ones you picked up?
Atleast once you have the keys, worst case you could learn to do it yourself. If you put another dirve in, the game wont play but dvd movies will i think. That means the key is wrong. (from memory). Really what i remember doing the most is just copying the key to the replacement drive and then spoofing the drive as the same model as i was replacing it with (if it was different). If you found the same drive and model to replace your broken one, then you just need to backup the firmware, update the key with the old broken key, and flash back the firmware. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

I will update them both. I dont plan on playing online with the xbox anyway and neither of these old ones were modded in any way.
I've also talked to my computer guy and he said to bring the tutorial and program with me and we'll give it a shot. He's super curious to see if he can do it. If successful, he'll have one more skill for his shop. _________________________________________________________
