Do you just plan on watching movies with it? Kind of a pricey jump if you just plan on doing that _________________________________________________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

It could function as a PC if you wanted it too, this is very future proof as well. It supports all HD resolutions such as 1080p, 1440p and even 1600p when they start making TV's at these resolutions. Not only that but the integrated graphics in these chips are excellent (especially the Haswell Intel HD4600) so you will have no problem decoding all the latest and most demanding video and audio codecs for an extremely pleasurable video experience including things such as 7.1 surround sound. If you are not serious into home theater equipment then I would sooner just go buy a Western Digital TV Live device or something similar, but these HTPC's are one of a kind, especially when paired with the XBMC front end interface. _________________________________________________________

LMAO you should change your name to LegendarySellout. XBOX man, the best HTPC and you can buy and upgrade and pimp it out to the tits for like $75.
And to think you share my name and are deviating from THE XBOX lol
Short of impossible things like a BD drive a good ol'XBOX does the job. 720P/1080i rez, games, streaming, the works, and if you check out the news and such runs things much better now too.
Just saying, You SELLOUT LMAO

Far from a sellout, the original xbox hardware is getting old no way around it, and the upgrade to spice up the speed is a fair amount more than 75 dollars. For a nice Xbox 1 with a 1.4GHz CPU and added ram, it would cost you roughly 500 dollars last time I checked, which wouldn't even be half the speed of the lowest spec'ed machine I listed. For the Xbox hardware, it does very well, but I did not expect I to last forever. My console will only play low-quality 720p video files and still stutters on some of the more graphical scenes. Not only that but the HTPC can play games as well, nothing is stopping it. If you want, you can even throw a graphics card into any one of the builds I listed and it would support all the latest up-to-date DirectX 11 games compared to DirectX 8 that the Xbox runs on. The HTPC is also capable of doing things like streaming, or acting as a cable box. Features like Netflix and other video devices are also ready to be put to use on these machines. They have a massive allowance for more storage room as with all the cases I listed they support several HDD's or SSD's. _________________________________________________________

LMAO I was just busting your balls. If somebody is actualy charging 500 to do an upgrade they got one hell of a racket going. 2 jobs pays for the equipment, then after that its 500 for like $50 worth of parts and time.
Something worth considering is going Linux, save money and quite a bit faster than windows. Only thing is just make sure theyve released drivers for the video card you plan on getting. I know AMD is pretty bad at releasing GPU drivers for linux in a timely fashion
I honestly didnt mean it as an insult, just a joke. Like saying you should go VHS and 8track. Sorry man, no disrespect, youre one of the best guys Ive met on any forum, let alone HQ.
