Hello 360-HQ
I'm having problems with my sons xbox 360 as it continually disconnects after 10 or 15 minutes on xbox live.
I have setup a static IP on the xbox and reserved the IP in the router and allowed all ports both in and out but it still disconnects. I have also added the IP as a DMZ server but still the same. I then removed the wireless connection and hardwired it but it still disconnects. I'm not to sure what to try from here. I thought about disabling the port scan or firewall but not sure if I should do so. The router is a netgear DG834G and I'd like to know if anyone has this device running xbox live without any problems.

So it's only the xbox 360 having this issue? What about other devices connected to your netgear?? If you have a spare port switch it over and test a different port on your router. On a side note, if your router keeps dropping connection to your ISP, you may have line problems. _________________________________________________________ Xbox v1.1

Hi Ozzy,
It appears to be only the xbox that is having this issue. The router appears to be staying up o.k according to the log and has not been dropping out. Both wireless and wired have the same result. I have now acquired a DLink router and will give that a try over the next couple of days. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks

yeh sounds ilke the router could be on the way out, if you've had it for a while.. Hopefully when you test with this new router you will be all fixed. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

No problem with DLink tested all weekend without disconnecting.
Had the netgear router for quite a few years so might just try to reflash the firware before it heads to the wheelie bin. _________________________________________________________ xbox v1.2

I had the same issue with my console, except it was only my console, it was a super old wired Linksys router, just disabled the router firewall and it was all good. _________________________________________________________
