Even though he's in sunny Sydney as we speak, Major Nelson still has time to let us know that a new Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter demo has hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. We know, if you haven't already bought it and beat it, you've at least downloaded the multiplayer demo that dropped in March. Well, for anyone stuck without an Xbox Live gold account, without GR:AW, and who didn't get to play the free demo online during the free weekend, here's your chance to check it out.
Everyone's favorite kind of tipster (the anonymous type) has come out of Microsoft saying that they have some serious cards to deal in their favor for Xbox Live Arcade. While this is strictly a rumor, word has it that they are working on getting MAME on the system to turn XBLA into the largest arcade machine in the world.
From the horse's mouth: "XBLA has seen some pretty serious deal-making in this first quarter - it's been a real priority," explained the source. "The deal-making has been a no-brainer for everyone we've spoken to and, aside from a few licensing issues with existing products, XBLA is going to smash Nintendo's Virtual Console to pieces."
Big words! But that's not all. SEGA is also supposed to jump on board with some 8 and 16-bit titles. Allegedly, Microsoft will be showing all this off at E3 and making huge news in the process. Think gamers would get excited to see both of these on the 360? Hell yes we would. The potential is staggering, but we'll have to wait until May to see if this anonymous heads-up is worth anything or not.
This is the commercial for the water balloon fight that Microsoft is sponsoring this Saturday in Australia, looking to break the world record set by 2,677 Spaniards who tossed 50,855 water balloons in 2005 ... oh yeah, and to promote the Xbox 360.
For maximum exposure, they're sending down their big guns, John and Cesar from Gamerscore Blog and, natch, Major Nelson. They've also invited a select group of bloggers to cover the goings-on like our friends at Xboxic. Without impugning the integrity of our fellow bloggers, Xbox 360 Fanboy regretfully declined the generous offer.
Yes, we're aware that journalistic integrity at a site called Xbox 360 Fanboy seems a little ... antithetical, but we're fanboys because we hold these companies to a higher standard. Even the perception of impropriety may color our coverage, so we err on the side of caution. Rest assured, in lieu of blogging it first hand, we'll be here (in beautiful, sunny, wherever we are) to blog the various goings on from afar.
Here's some news we received from the Devil360 Team, who announced last week that they will release a new product for the Xbox 360 on 06/06/2006:

Johnny and I[WunSick ] have been working on the adapter, shooting ideas, testing, various things... Hes built a few prototypes, I'm still waiting for my parts because I'd like to do this with you all so you guys get a firm understanding of how the device works.
Now johnnyTk36's adapter is a little more complicated than what you all will need, and for other reasons I cannot release quite yet :) but here is his adapter.
Good job buddy, this should deffinitly be a fun project for you and I.
Note: The one we build will be very similar to this.
I have entered into this contest. I'm trying to win a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force X2 headphones. These headphones are built specifically for the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles and include a microphone for Xbox Live chat. If I win this contest I will review these headphones and then the admins of this site will make a contest of some sort to give them away either on xbox-hq or 360-hq, They retail for $100 so that would be a very nice prize for the winner of the contest, the only catch is I have to win the contest at xbox360fanboy.com in order to give them away here. I need everyone to vote for me so that we can have our own contest here on the HQ Network. Remember to Vote for Sjohn.
Here is what Xbox360Fanboy had to say about the contest:
Once the entries in our "Most Pathetic 360 Setup" contest started coming in, it was clear there would be no way we could decide who was more deserving of the Turtle Beach Ear Force X2 headphones I reviewed.
