NIS America has confirmed that R-Type Final 2, a sequel to R-Type Final released in 2004, and the first R-Type game in over a decade, will be available on April 30, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, in a special physical edition titled “Inaugural Flight Edition”.

The legendary shoot'em Up is back with an R-Type experience like no other! As the latest installment in a series renowned for its colorful graphics and frenetic action, R-Type Final 2 ramps up by making an explosive entry into today's video game platforms, featuring 3D graphics and modernized gameplay. New and old players alike can shape their gaming experience the way they want, thanks to a performance-based difficulty system, as well as customizable ships and pilots. However, the characteristics of a classic R-Type, such as “Force” mechanics and addicting gameplay, are also present. Players will have to navigate the universe, made up of classic and never-before-seen levels, face enemies that evolve based on their performance, and take out the competition to fight their way to the top of the world rankings.
