According to IGN, company chairman Zelnick made the announcement towards the end of a quarterly financial conference call on Thursday and said: "It’s unlikely the picture would be released coincident with BioShock 2. It's more likely it would be released coincident with BioShock 3."
Take-Two confirmed in March that a sequel to the 2007 Xbox 360 and PC game BioShock was in development at 2K Marin, and slated for release in Q4 of the publisher’s fiscal year 2009.
BioShock received numerous Game of the Year awards during 2007 and was hailed for, among other things, its rich visual detail and Art Deco style. Set in an underworld utopia gone wrong, the creepy shooter really struck a chord with reviewers, earning the Xbox 360 version of the title a MetaCritic rating of 96. It has sold more than 2 million units worldwide since releasing in August 2007 and a sequel is planned for release in 2009.
