Well, I am sure the PS3 will be a great piece of expensive hardonware. I won't flame anyone for buying it but I do think you'll get much more for your money with the 360 especially with 360Live. Nothing compares and we can dare say that nothing ever will. Even if Sony can muster something for PS3 for online play, Microsoft Live will be 100 times better as it is already incredible.
It is my estimation that raw power will be similar, yet the 360 has the edge in ease of development and a more unified component architecture with a huge head start on games that rock already and will only be better on the day PS3 is released.
Someday, when the PS3 is at less than $150 bucks US I may get one or not. There will be far to many super cool games on the 360 and who has thousands of hours for playing games anyway.
Simple answer, I won't be waiting in any lines for PS3.

I promised my oldest son a PS3 when they came out... way back when I thought it was gonna cost $300 or so. Actually I promised him we'd both get one so we could play each other online, like my younger son and I do on the 360s. Guess I get two pineapples!
Anyway, I want a "Blow"-Ray for upstairs and downstairs anyway.
I wonder if the BR (BS?) format will be the death of Sony... I think the L-O-N-G delays and butt-drilling prices are really gonna hurt sales. Sony better have an AWESOME online experience or it will be dead before it hits the ground. XBL is incredible... what's Sony got???
The Wii is gonna kick some serious 360 ass, though! Just kidding! I ain't Japanese!
I'll look on the bright side... I'll be near the top of every PS3 game's leaderboard.... Hell, if you're stupid enough to get jacked on the price, you've gotta be in the top 10, right???
Sounds like the early PS3s will also have a PS2 chipset for backwards compatibility, which will be one area where PS3 actually excels compared to the 360, whose backwards compatibility SUCKS! _________________________________________________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

does anyone remember BETA MAX video recorders?? lol
SONY brought them out remember and they didnt even make it neither.. lol
BETAMAX was suppose to be the next standard for video tapes etc (well they thought).. It never happened and VHS just took over the market..
You still see BETA's used in small production houses etc but i havent seen one in years now.
Same will happen this time.. I wont be paying $500 for a blu-ray drive.. Ill just get the HD DVD from M$..

There will be players that play both down the road. There are far to many production publishing houses on each side and by the way Microsoft doesn't even need anyones support to succeed. Us dummies with support it anyway, me included.
I remember the Beta Max. We had one. It was the better of the the two formats (VHS). It could hold more video and the cartridge was smaller. Yet it failed. Kind of like some Sega products and I love Saga more than any company. However, I hate Sony since they stopped on poor cool Sega unfairly. Now the mega monopolies can duke it out and I am in the Microsoft camp. Hoo RaAAAAAA!
Still. I say both consoles will rock. It will come down to price and what you get and games. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!
In the long run, I'd agree with you, but in the short run.... since I'm gonna get reamed on the PS3 price, might as well "enjoy" the BR ride while it lasts!
Wouldn't it be interesting if Sony came out with a rock-bottom priced PS3... one without Blow-Ray???? _________________________________________________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

"A recent interview with Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi alludes to the fact that Sony will not charge users for connecting to the PS3 online service. He stated that Sony's current business model will rely on downloadable content as the bread and butter while basic service should remain free.
"You can't charge money for network matching and other basic services. These things are just taken for granted on the PC." Mr. Kutaragi was noted for saying, while reaffirming that Sony' online presence will be a force to be reckoned with.
Unlike Microsoft with their Xbox Live yearly subscription, Sony feels that people should pay for what they want and not be forced to pay a fee, just to connect.
Sony also hinted at the ability to use it's Cell processor in a multi-tiered environment thereby using the collective processing power of all the PS3s connected to their server as the power behind their conceived cyber-world.
According to Kutaragi, Sony will have network services available from launch day and has stated that digital storage and streaming will be a product to come. He hopes this move may eventually get rid of the need for optical drives, allowing the user to store content on an off-site server farm, gaining access whenever they connect. "If you have all the data on servers, you probably no longer need disk drives... But to do this, the server is crucial. It's a difficult problem," said Kutaragi.
An interesting alternative to these claims, however, comes from Sony's Public Relations department in which they were quoted in saying that Sony has yet to release a pricing scheme for online services.

FREE ONLINE GAMING FOR PS3??????
This all sounds great until you realize it costs loads of money to operate servers that host data in high demand. Money equals quality. It will also cost 100's of millions just to have palatable and functioning software for their network with out their proprietary virus/Trojan tricks.
Now factor in the loss of revenue due to the PS3 hardware itself. Sounds like hot air in a balloon that is about to land in a bed of needles.
I hope they can pull it off but there is so much against them this time around. They are a strong company with much ingenuity, however. I have no problem paying for Xbox Live as it is more than worth it. What may happen with Sony's under funded network is lack of properly maintained servers and a possibly overloaded system since they will not want to pay out to IT or not enough on a product that looses them money.
I know the server/hosting business quite well and to think you can eliminate storage on system (DVD or what have you) and have it online is ludicrous mainly because of standard uploads for you fellas would be far from adequate and you would be constantly downloading the giant files of your 4 - 35 GB games. What an overly saturated network that would create. Insane and very costly. Maybe I didn't read them right. I think I should re-read it. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!
