Yep even Microsoft admitted that this didnt really do anything to help load times and I guess it is mostly to cut down on noise fromt the drive. Also Bungie released a statement telling people not to put Halo 3 on thier hard drive because it would actually increase loading times. Good Idea but no real benefits. _________________________________________________________

DJB did mention about DEAD RISING which had a huge improvement in loading times.. I bet it did make it better.. It would have had to.. It took forever to load.. hehe
The reason most games run slower of HDD right is because they were made to run fast off dvd. Games coming out in the future can be made to play off the HDD, thus increasing load times. _________________________________________________________

Exactly Darth, and that is why Halo 3 had such a negative effect.
Its because Bungie worked very hard on making the game run its best on the Xbox 360 at the time, and that was through the DVD drive, they even put on the box that it is optimized for a hard drive because it cache's a lot to the hard drive so it is almost an equal balance between DVD drive loading and Hard drive. Now that it would be all on the hard drive it kind of creates a bottleneck based on the Hard Drives speed. Because it is only 5400 rpm it can not compete with splitting it with the hard drive and DVD drive. It all depends on the game and whether it caches to the hard drive or not.

Yeah I just got a new 60 gig premium xbox so I can store quite a few games
If anyone is wondering about load times and install sizes this is a good link (note you must hit show spoiler)
