Those are the exact screws that llamma uses on their list for the RROD fix, I've never heard of that kind of thermal paste before, but as long as you clean it good and use the right amount of paste it should be better then Microsoft's poor job at it Laughing

oh i don't know if you have put a heatsink on b4, cos when you put the paste on the chip's die (the part that makes contact withthe heatsink) ONLY put enough on so when you press the heatsink down on to the chip , it will cover just the die of the chip......

it's worse to put to much on than not enough......

hope this will help.

First off I would like to apologize for not answering this earlier but I have been really busy. I have taken apart alot of 360's and had the same problem you had. The good news is that you now have a perfectly good thermal paste and tightening on your gpu and cpu. Which doesn't hurt one bit. But the honest truth is that the only thing wrong with your system was that if you don't put that fan hood in just right meaning closing one eye and sticking your tongue out to the right while installing it you will get that red ring light everytime. Believe me I know because it has done it too me on several occassions. But like I said you probably needed to do the rrod fix anyhow to avoid any further problems. But just for future reference if it does it again just let it cool for half a hour and reinsert the fan hood so that it is sitting squarely in the box. Kudo's to you on the rrod fix though! Very Happy

Hey Rebel, since you have done the xclamp fix give me some advice on it. I have presentec this question to a couple of people. Should I drill the metal case? Yes or no or maybe drill the holes bigger than the head of the screw so there wont be any pressure from the metal case pushing on the screws then pushing on the motherboard. What to do bud?

hey irish, yes you should drill the case because it makes the replacement xclamp screws for the case the same size as the heatsink's tap. That you can make sure that there exact pressure appiled to the mobo.I used a 3/16 Bi-metal Drill bit. When drilling remember that you should always try to drill it out centerened and not angled. Also the Mating surfaces should be deburred so that nothing can ground out u're mobo*very important*.if u need anymore help lemmie know.

I have seen that the hole has been drilled out so that the heads of the screws will fit right through the metal case.

Mr Gunner, what are you drilling holes for? I hope you are not planning intimate nights with your 360. If you are, use a 5mm drill bit Laughing

Seriously though, i have done a few fixes and didn't drill anything. I have a spare set of screws and washers if you like? Free of course. PM me if you are interested.
