i have a problem with overheating my system if it has never shown the ring of death. i dont want to melt the solder because the problem hasnt arised, I cant just replace the xclamps with the bolts and washers and just skip the overheating issue since it hasnt occurred yet.

im good now...i was just going to take the clamp out and replace it with the bolts for future help. i might just leave it alone as you said.

i agree with sjohn, im a newbie to all this, but before i did the xclamp replacement, wen my power fluctuated my xbox shut off and got the RLOD and wen i turned it back on it worked fine.
