hi im new here to the boards *waves* but im not new to the modding scene{i've built/worked on computers},last week i cracked my box open to fix the dreaded dvd rom drive error and noise! so i get it open and found the usuals dust and etc.i take the drive apart as some guide i found online said.put it all back together and went for the on button and the ring of lights displayed a red ring on death code ,i didn't think this was correct because i didn't do anything other than fix the drive and it bugs.clean the insides out with a small amount of air blaster.i even q-tipped the rear main fan.so i started scratchin my head as to why it would display that error,to me it was like a error code that was like the one u get when u mistakingly bump u're a/v cable. i know its never had that issue ever. The box turns on but nothing on the screen.if someone can please be of help to me or give me anything on helping fix this prob please let me know ,i haven't been on live in a week and im about to scream!!!
P.S. i may put a vid up ,ask if u wanna see it
peace&love

Try to check to see if the cables are hooked up or in snug on the dvd drive and to the motherboard. That might be your problem. Also how many red lights u see and what location example bottom left. Also hold in the sinc button and hit your eject button 4 red lights equal 0, 3 red lights equal 3, 2 red lights equal 2, and 1 red light equals 1 i want you to hold the sinc button and hit the eject button 1 time but 4 times total geting each code number and let me know what that number is thanks. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Welcome Modder, I am fairly new to the site but from talking to the guys here it sound that maybe the connection to your drive may not be sold. meaning it may not be connected all the way. that may be an assumption on my part. But someone from this great site will be able to help _________________________________________________________ aka IrishGunner

hey Modder84 wellcome to the site you will find out the we are very helpful around here and if theres a question we cant answers we can usually find the answer. There are lots of thing to do and see on the site so have fun checking them out
could you post up the vid so i can check it out to see exactly what your talking about i think i under stand but im not sure. did you hear and weird noises while you were taking out the dvd drive like the mobo flexing if it is the RROD this is a shot in the dark but maybe the dvd drive might have had enough pressure to hold the mobo in place and when you took it out it flexed out thus giving you the RROD or i could be completely wrong and everything will be fine
hopfully its nothing but if it is its easily fixable _________________________________________________________

Might have to do a xclamp how old is your xbox 360 manufacture date is on the back. Ill see if i can find more details on this error. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

no it dosent have any of the security stuff so it knows you opened it the RROD is when the power button on the front turns red in three of the four spots it happens when the mobo warps and it breaks a solder connection and produses the error if you search it in google you can find out more info on it _________________________________________________________
