Ok.. I have tested the following and I believe we can rule them out for now:
1. Gamercards removed and still loading slow after many tests.
2. SQL Database (everything looks fine, no corruption)
3. No attacks have been initiated on the server (ddos, exploits etc)
New problems:
1. Users ip address are not shown correctly on the server.. In other words this may be causing the forums to have a hard time with the session it is assigning since every ones ip is the same. This was fine before today.
this thread took me like nearly 30 seconds to load.

It looks like it might be fsockopen related like you said.. only some forum topics are effected, and any other pages which use the fsockopen function i wrote lag and then sometimes are fast..
Every other area of the site, like homepage, tutorials, hardware, and ones which don't have backgrounds, etc etc work in 0.23 seconds average which is great.
I have not noticed anything yet, still pretty snappy from here.

It's still doing it for me. I am about reboot the server for the first time. Let's hope it comes back up.
