Ok, I've got Open Tray like error on BenQ drive (concole turns on - tray opens, you press the button to close it, it closes, tries to read disc and opens again, you turn off concole, tray closes/opens) and I'm pretty sure I know what's the problem. It's probably the 360's SATA controlled chip death. What I want to know is if it possible to re-solder the new SATA controller chip to 360's mobo?

Here's a quick fix for you. tray open, hold onto it, let it close just slightly and pull it open against its will. Do this four or five times and see it helps. It's not permanent fix though. To fix it good you have to open the drive up and remove the rubber band that controls the open closeing motor located near the front part of the drive under the tray. Get some isopropal and lightly wet a paper towel. Now gently run the band through the wet part of the towel making sure you get all areas of the band cleaned. Put band back on, put tray back in and put drive together and it should be good for some time. This problem usually happens when you push the tray closed all the time. Use the eject button from now on Smile

Nope, it's not that problem, I have another DVD drive and tried connecting it to concole - same thing, means it's not DVD drive problem, what left? Only SATA controller chip on the motherboard
