This is majorly important news for the homebrew/modding scene because of several reasons.
Geohotz is an incredibly egotistical young man and a bit crazy too boot (follow me on this one!) and he's already faced of apple and come out on top with jailbreaking pretty much being declared legal.
He said in a few statements basically he's doing this for bigger reasons. I'm really starting to wonder if geohotz was actually aware how angry sony would get and drag him to court.
If and its a BIG if geohotz somehow manages to do the same here as he did with apple....boy...wouldnt that mean the beggining to the end of closed system consoles? Thats what happened with windows isnt it? Mr gates saw that piracy would be impossible to block and left it open and focused on the more important things like charging for the software and distributing to buisness.
You see what I'm trying to get at? Why would games company bother with so much high tech security if its only a matter of time before its hacked theres no point protecting something thats unprotectable and this case may just show like apple sony hasnt really got a right to stop hackers. How this turns out could have huge knock on effects.
