I know this is the wrong forum, but the PSP-HQ is a ghost town. Is there anyone here who can help me mod a PSP? I need help with it all. Please get back to me in a PM to prevent this from getting too out of hand in the wrong forum. _________________________________________________________

yeah bro no probs, psps are my expertise,
what firmware are you running? (check in system info)
which model is it? (psp 1000, psp 2000 slim and lite, psp 3000 brite and lite, psp go)
what memory cards do have? (if u have a 32mb original sony base pack one makes things easy as some memory cards dont work properly)

Thank you so much for responding. I didn't think anyone was going to come through, which would be very unusual for the HQ. Anyways, I don't have a PSP yet. I was hoping maybe you could let me know which is the best one to go for. From what I have read and gathered on the net, the Slim 2000-2001 seems to be the best option for better speakers, tv output, and weight. Is that correct? I am starting from scratch here. I have been searching Ebay for used ones. I really want to run some Emulators of a few NES, SNES, and PS1 games. Can you let me know what all is possible right now as far as that goes? I'm not sure what these things are capable of, so I might want a few more apps as well. _________________________________________________________

the slims do have extra ram, and can even run cps3 and street fighter 3rd strike only 10-15 frames less then 60fps. I believe the emulation is better for n64. Yeah the key thing you need is the right firmware to be able to install a custom firmware. nes and snes emulation is near perfect on psp, tho on my phat i do get some graphically glitches emulating some snes games its not perfect. i do try out a lot of homebrew, but some of it is tricky to get running and some of it doesnt work. ive been trying to get opera running which has java browser but cant get it to run.
personally i would advise u find a slim and light they are lighter and have more ram (phats have 32mb, slims have 64mb) i think u need specific emulators for the slim to get the usage of the ram, but im pretty sure n64 runs sweet on slims, it does run on my phat, mario kart and lylat wars run good on mine, probably run perfectly on slim. but make sure u get one which u can install a custom firmware on as there are some u can only run a thing called hen which is tricky to keep running and is kinda of a everytime u boot u have to run it to get homebrew running!
for psone emulation u will need to install popsloader which u have to set for each individual game, its a bit tricky to set up but once its set ur ready to go and its easy. most games do work, ill check theres a list on wiki on what runs with what popsloader, and what games dont run which is very few, jackie chan stuntmaster doesnt run which is a bummer. alot of psone games run, resident evil 2 does which didnt at back in the day.
emulation wise nes, snes, genesis run sweet, not all n64 games run but a lot the main ones do, cps1 and 2 run fine.
homebrew theres so much theres all sorts of homebrew ports of pc games, homebrew original games, loads and loads of apps, like comic readers, file browsers. theres things called plugins which extend the usage like one of my faves is catorgies which u can organise your homebrew into different folders. theres custome themes so u can change ur icons to whatever you want.
the only thing u give up getting a slim is the infared and u cant have a 1.50 kernal running which some older homebrew needs, this use to be a big deal but not ne more really.
oh before i forget, one of my favourite apps, which if it runs on slims would run better, was xbmc remote, i loved that when i had my xbox1 u can connect the psp wirelessly to ur network and have control over it on the psp, the app even looks like xbmc which was aswesome. theres not much connectivity with the 360 tho.
so yeah, i hope this info is of use and not just a bunch of ramblings, ive pm'd u some further info on how to install cfw, more then willing to help you with any further specific questions u have, ill have to do some research as ive done it all and dont even really use my psp ne more its just sitting in my cupboard, xbox live takes up all my gaming time!
so i hope u enjoy the wonderful world of psp homebrew really its equal to the xbox1 in how much is available and what u can do! oh u cant emulate xbox1, 360, ps2, wii or ps3 but im sure u know that!

Yeah, I waited two days for a reply from the PSP-HQ, but there were no signs of life, so I came here. Bomernee provided me with some technical info, but hasn't got back to me yet with the basics of starting off. I'm buying my PSP today. If anyone else can help me get started, I would greatly appreciate it. Let me know. I'm sure Bomernee has just been busy. _________________________________________________________
