Hey Guys,
I was just wondering if you guys could give me a hand, as you can see this is my first post after being a lurker for a while.

I am thinking of buying myself a new HDD for my xbox after having the 20GB one since getting my xbox a good few years ago. The trouble is despite me owning the xbox i share it with a flatmate, he has his own Gamertag and profile etc. If i get the new hard drive is there a way to copy all of my data - Gamertag, Game Saves, DLC and other things - whilst keeping his on the old 20GB hard drive. If this is possible what would be the easist way to do it. As it would be usefull if we could have our own seperate HDD's.

My Xbox is Modded or anything like that, but i do have a HDD to SATA adapter i bought a while back so i can connect ot my PC or MAC

Thanks in advance Very Happy

Hi CUSNS,

Welcome to the sites, hope you find them useful.

It sounds like you'll be having some fun.

Do you have a Xbox 360 Transfer Cable (Kit) from Microsoft?
I would just use this cable to transfer everything to your new hdd.. You can then delete stuff using the xbox 360 dashboard and get it cleaned up for you.

For you mate, you may need to look into pc programs like 360explorer.. I will link you. These programs allow you to connect the hdd to your pc and then backup files.

Xplorer 360 Homebrew:

You will find links to downloads and tutorials from that link.

There is a new application out now too but i would wait till its tested further..

Xbox 360 Commander Beta 1 for Xbox 360

hope it helps get you started..

cheers,

Thanks for the reply!

I dont have an xbox transfer cable but can definately get hold of one, if i use this will it delete all information off the source HDD or will it just copy it onto the new one; as if it deletes it i will need to back it up to an image before i presume. I had looked at xplrorer360 and comander but i wasnt sure, Confused . If the transfer cable does delete all information off the original hard drive will using the image from Xplorer or something to restore it wrok and keep all information allowing me then to delete my Gamertag and Gamesaves?

Thanks for the advice, it's just i want to be sure it will work before doing it Wink.

P.S. Will this all work f im upgrading from a 20GB to 120GB or 250GB?

Been a while since ive used the transfer cable.. So , to be safe i would use 360explorer or other pc tools to backup everything you have and then use the transfer cable and report your results.. Smile
