I gotchya, hellblazer55 Wink

kennethk, I personally don't care about trading in games, never have, never will as you now know I kind of collect them but I understand what you are saying and I can appreciate what that means to you and millions of other people. I do sometimes give a game or 2 to a needy kid who otherwise would have nothing. If the 720 does not allow playing a game that was once owned by another party then the poor kids will suffer. I guess they will get a Sony or Nintendo thingy instead... Boooo! Confused

Wow! didn't know that. With the way our gov and entertainment industry is, we most likely will never see that. If we could resell our digital copies, that would be cool.

Yeah they all have they're cons and pros why I dont get is why they cant come up with a specific disc size thats like 23.5GBs or some sort of gb size you cant but in stores, that could at least lower piracy a bit for those that only know about flashing dvd drives

You know, the Sega Dreamcast did just that. Back then the CD's were what 650 to 800 mb max or something like that. Well, sega's Cd was around 1 GB (1000 MB). At the time, it made it hard to deal with that when coping a game. The special security strip it had built in was fun too at first. That's history and we all know you can play copied Dreamcast games on the Dreamcast, PC and original xbox.

Thing is, if someone can figure out how to copy and play something like an xbox game, I bet someone will figure out how to copy and play digital media.

I think the main motivation for them stopping used original games from being used by a party other than the one who bought is greed. They are just trying to find more ways to make more money. That's my feeling on it, don't really know for sure.

Like I say not everyone knows about things like Xkeys they just know that you can burn pirated copies for the most part they have no idea that you can actually Emulate games on there own console for example

Flashing DVD Drives just seems to be the most popular subject, even my grandmother whos 78 knows about it. Very Happy

I don't really see it as greed more of a marketing technique, they don't want people buying just one console and then have the ability to play every game on it. If people just bought the xbox 3 then people would stop buying the 360 which they more then likely will still support for another few years.

Every gaming company does this.

So then it is still a pocket book matter. They still want to make more money which I guess is natural. They think that if you can buy used games at Gamestop, Ebay and your friend or you can give or receive a used game that they are making less money because they would have made more money if it was bought new by every party that would ever come to play them games.

Thing is, ultimately less consoles will sell once you can no longer use a used game on a console and as a consequence less new (unused) games will sell as well. This is a gig picture thing I see. You see, many, and I mean many people, save every penny for a console. Then they buy 1 or 2 new used games. Since they can barely afford to put bread on the table, most of their future games will be used games with a rare few new games purchased from time to time. This translates into millions of consoles and new games sold which will not happen when these people no longer have access to used games. They will get the current shit box console on the market instead. The one with the $10 to $20 new games.

So in the long run I see Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot over it.

Like you said, it's still marketing. It could be their plan to sell off all the new game inventory of the 360 to those less fortunate to partake in the latest and great 720.

Yup and good luck finding a used game when a new console releases.

Actually. it's real easy to find used games even within a week of a console being released. Returns, people selling them on ebay because they beat them and so on.

Microsoft don't like that Rolling Eyes
