According to this article, ipv4 addresses are pretty much gone now. Pretty soon we are going to have to start sharing addresses with neighbors. Hopefully ipv6 can be implemented soon, even though it has an annoying format for addresses Confused

So many things use the internet now, mobile phones, ipods, the new PSP will have 3g support. Soon you will be able to buy jackets with 3g that you can connect all your stuff through (if they haven't already).

What I would like to see is a new NAT that changes ipv4 address to ipv6. That way the LAN within your house or company would still run on ipv4. Then the new NAT could translate your private ipv4 address to your public ipv6.

That would make the transition even easier in my opinion.
