I need a new TV for my master bedroom.

Please make a recommendation!

Specs I'm Looking For:

* I'm budgeting US$2000-3000, but I'm willing to go up to $4000 or so for the "ideal" set

* Viewing distance will be roughly up to 10 feet (maybe a little more, sometimes less... Xboxing!)

* I'd prefer something I could wall-mount, but not an absolute requirement.. I plan to cut a hole in the wall to run EVERY FREAKING WIRE (Cable TV, power cords, EVERYTHING!) into a walk-in closet behind the wall it's to be mounted on. In the closet will be a shelf for my 360, my future HTPC, cable box, etc.

* I know it's rather 90s-ish, but I still like PIP

* obviously HD

* a multitude of inputs would be great... DVI, FireWire, HDMI, component... the more the merrier!

* oh! and great picture quality is a plus as well

Let's hear some recommendations! (Links if you have them)

All i can say is PIONEER.. lol
I did alot of looking into plasma's particularly (not lcd's) and the largest sizes you can get..

I myself only just got my HUGE pioneer HD Plasma.. It suppots everything i need and more.. HD, svideo, vga, etc etc etc..

Ill link you to my pics on the site of it again..
You can see how big it is by looking at the projector and the amplifiers etc, xboxes around it.

Seriously this tv is the best money ive spent in a long time apart from my 360 of course.. I was planning to get my 360 for ages..

heres some more pics and links to the official pioneer site.
I know its a little bit dearer then the rest but it won last years #1 plasma..
I got mine for around $5400 AUD.. When its retail was $9999AUD.. They have come down alot since then though..

Pioneer offical site info:
http://www.pioneer.com.au/home_entertainment/plasmadisplaypanel/pdp506hd/index.html

Especially with the new 16 billion colour plasmas or something ive heard about..

SXRD technology

1920x1080 resolution

I was going to pick this but it was too big for my room. I bought the lower model running at 42". Farthest I sit is 15ft away.

I like the Samsung DLP's , Decent price and I'm not sure about the 1080ps but the 720p models have a 15 pin VGA input as well as all of your standard and HDTV inputs.

Buy a wireless keyboard and mouse and with my wireless 360 controler and cable remotes,,,, I never have to leave the couch again,,,, at least for media stuff Very Happy

I saw a 50" LG plasma that was a prospective candidate... one version for $3999 had a buily-in DVD recorder, which I already have one of (plus would be somewhat redundant with a HTPC). A nearly identical model minus the DVD recorder was $2999. Unfortunately, the $2999 set lacks the PIP that $3999 version has. Is PIP worth $1000? I don't think so!

I do not know where you are located but Costco can get some pretty sweet deals if you keep your eyes peeled. The best technology for playing games right now is DLP, when you factor in refresh rate, resolution, lack of burn in, and most of all, bang for the buck. I have had just about everything and the current Tv I have is a Panasonic 62" DLP that I bought last year. I LOVE IT!!! One thing you have to remember is the only thing you are buying when you buy a plasma is the name, there are only two manufacturers in the world that provide the plasma display that are in all the units, so all you are really paying for is the options, and the name basically. Same thing with DLP, Texas Instruments is the chip, always, what you are paying for is the quality of the color wheel, and the options you care to have. I got my display for $2499 which is absolutely un-beatable for what it is. I had a 50" Pioneer Plasma before that was nice, but one thing about plasma is that you have to have PERFECT light control in the room because you get wicked glare on a plasma screen, whereas the DLP screens are matte black and absorb alot of the ambient reflection in the room. I think if you are going to be 10' away from the screen a 50" would do you just fine, but with the budget you got, you should go all out and get the big 60+ in there, you will not be dissapointed. I have heard that LCD is the absolute best for games cause the refresh rate is a little better, but I have tried them side by side and for the extra $1000 I could not justify the difference.
