Hi all,
I am considering doing a case mod and have read up/watched many tutorials. One thing that I found unclear was in regards to the plexiglass. I am not sure what tool to use/how best to cut the plexiglass. In addition, is it necessary to cut it? I've seen some people say they cut the case then just put the plexiglass inside the case itself. Others have said they cut it and fit the pieces into the case that they cut.
Is there a preferred method of doing this? Any tips/tricks that you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Cutting plexi is alot like cutting sheet rock. You have to score it with a razor blade or utility knife and break it off. They actually make plexi cutting tool. I had to shave down some of the feature on the inside of the case where I was putting the plexi and had to trim the plexi itself to fit inside the case. You can go to lowes buy like an 8x11 sheet for like 5 bucks. Of course you will have to trim it down but its not that bad. Make sure you get the thinnest sheet possible. I put mine under my case instead of on top. But you can put it on top and maybe bolt it down? Thats actually what I was gonna do but changed my mind. Hope my advice and pics help. If you have any more questions feel free to ask bro.

definitely put the plexi on the inside it looks so much smoother, plus if u do that it widens the amount of ways that u can attach it. I for one glued velcro to the part that wasnt visible whenever the case is put together, which gives me easy access to the inside of the case, all I have to do is push down slide it over a bit and pull it out. Additionally, if u attach the plexi on the inside u can cut it with a rotary tool if u used on to cut ur case, saying as the rougher edge will be hidden. _________________________________________________________ Battlefield Bad Company 2 Clan Leader

Thanks for the replies all. I was planning on putting the plexi in the case, never on the outside of it. What I was wondering more was if people mostly put it inside the case or flush with the cut?
Also, looking for some advice on tools used to cut the plexi. I have heard of using exacto knife, dremel, etc. Just wondering what everyone's experience has been.

I tried using a dremel to cut my plexi but it just chipped it. Maybe I was using the wrong attachment. I would have loved to put mine flush but couldn't figure out a good way to do it except for gluing and I don't like gluing because i usually make a mess of it so i put it underneath. lol _________________________________________________________

I have never done anything with plexi but this might be possible.
Get a sheet bigger than the hole you have cut out from the xbox case.
Put the plexi under the case and score with a knife so you have the outline of the hole.
Sand down the plexi that will be hidden underneath the case so that parts of it will be raised.
That way when you stick it underneath, it will pop thorough and be flush. Might be easier than trying to cut exact bits to fit.
Might need thicker than 3mm. I have never tried it myself, but you can be the first and let us know how you get on. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.
Ok, another thing I thought about and wanted to confirm. Is it safe to assume that when you go the route of installing plexiglass into the side of the 360, you remove that metal lining that is inside?
