So after finding out my warranty expired and not having the money to dish out for a new one i decided to fix the 3 rrod myself. tore it apart, removed the x-clamps added new thermal paste to the gpu and cpu and reconnected the x-clamps. put it all back together and now the thing refuses to power back on and the light on the psu stays orange. i took the motherboard back out of the case and put on top of a box to rule out the grounding out but still the same results. on a second note i know power is getting into the motherboard, on the front left side (right behind the eject button) there is 2 points that get QUITE hot as soon as i plug the psu into the 360 without even hitting the power button...

any ideas?

yes i did that. in my post i said i even took the motherboard out of the case itself and sat it on a cardboard to rule out the fact of it grounding out
