I play demo's alot. Probably alot more then others. I don't just buy a game because everyone says it is great. Gears of War for example was too me a overrated game. You would think that the creator of the games would make sure that the demo was magnificent and represent the final product to the tee. Instead before you even play most demos the message comes up that this is not the final product and is subject to change. Okay the definition of a demostration is to show you how a product is going to work for you. So why the hell are the creators releasing a buggy really not working that great demo? If I created a game and released a demo I would make sure that sucker worked perfect and looked perfect. That way people would be like I have got to get this game. Instead the creators release the demo way before it is ready and tell you that this is kinda what the game will play like! Too me this is like shooting yourself in the foot. I play a demo and then decide if I will buy the game. The demo is my decision maker. The creators of games might want to take this into account before releasing thier demos.

I always do a lot of research on a game before shelling out $60. Go to a couple of my favorite game ranking sites... see what they had to say about it first, and then I may go further and check out forums.

Ive never really taken the demo approach though... how exactly do you go about getting the demos? Live downloads?

Yeah, i do the same- demo's should represent the actual games. I also agree with your gears comment, also thinking that halo3, and cod4 are overrated too (Gears in fact being my favorite). But back to the point of the topic...

I also find it realy irritating when you play a demo, then buy the game, and the demo was the only good level in the entire game (Can't think of an example, but i know there are some).

I f i had taken cod4 or halo3 on demo's i wouldnt have bought them at all...Hated cod 4 and only got into it after watchin hobbs smash thru the first level of the campaign.

In my opinion halo3 was awsome campaigning with friends and a good follow on story to the prequels.

I also buy games based on recomendations on the forum's in the HQ network and by playing available demo's and also watching trailers.

I cannot fathom why developers would release a half baked demo for gamers to evaluate as first impressions last and if ya dont like the demo well i dont really think you would have any interest in the game either when it was released.

See I own both COD4 and Halo3 and I love pvp on COD4. Its amazing and ultra competitve (although its no counter-strike). I think the Halo3 story and "plot" are so dull its amazing. Im not bad mouthing it or anything but to me halo3 was a waste of my coin. You shoot some guys running around a level for a half hour and then make a last minute escape on board of some craft.

COD4 for me just had amazing graphics and stellar live play while Halo3 was a little cartoony and hardly next gen in the graphics department (and yes i have HD hookup)

Yes you can download demo's via xbox live. It is a little time consuming but well worth the wait for it to download if you ask me. It has saved me tons of cash by not buying titles that I thought were going to be good and then played the demo and was like nope not going to buy that.

Yes, as far as i know, they're always free (All of mine have been), but you don't get much of the game normally.

Yes there always free from xbox live. I disagree about not getting much of the game. How much do you really need to see if the game is going to suck or not? Confused
