Ok, here's a question for all you electronically minded guys, especially considering i know nothing about electronics, lol. Right, does ANYBODY know if there is any way of connecting any perhiperals to the insode of the 360 to power them just like you could do in the original Xbox???
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

i found this pic here of a solid 12v source that you can tap into one of the dvd power lines:
and you can snag 5v off a usb port
with these points (and a good ground) you should be able to wire a molex plug and hook up anything you want.
yellow goes to the dvd 12v
red goes to usb 5v
both blacks to ground
voila. dang thats actually really sweet... i gotta pinpoint those spots and toss up a tut for that _________________________________________________________ .

Ok, stupid question time!!!! I know absolutely nothing about electronics, but i am good at following direction, so please help me out on this one bro. How would i go about wiring a cable up to that exact pin without preventing the dvd power connection from going back in place?? solder?? another method?? and also, where exactly would i find a good ground point for the ground cable?? I know these may seem like trivial questions, but i really need to be told what to do here, especially since i'm so afraid of f''king up my Xbox 360 beyond repair.
Please advise

well to connect to that point:
first look in the hole, identify the correct pin
plug the wire harness back in
locate the wire that goes to that pin
strip a bit of the wire without cutting it
attach anything to that wire that needs 12v
optional: solder connection for best connection
not optional: wrap with electrical tape to prevent shorting
alternate method... locate pin. flip board over, find the back of the pin. solder a wire to it.
as to the ground, im betting that another one of the dvd wires is a good ground. actually, it has to have at least one. i cant seem to remember where i saw the pinouts for those harnesses.... but if i find those ill tell you where to connect. if i dont find them then ill have my 360 open again this weekend, ill test it myself if i have to. or maybe theres easier points i dunno until i open it back up again _________________________________________________________ .

nope i wouldnt do that... first the fan lines are not a solid 12v, they are system controlled power that varies depending on the temp of the console. when you play a dvd the fans cut way back it would mess with your lighting. also, i saw someone post on xs that pulling extra current from those lines would fry something.. so you wouldnt want to hook anything bigger than a couple leds.
gimme another day or two ill be inside mine again, ill find you the points _________________________________________________________ .

ok i broke my 360 open again, and here's what i found for you:
keep in mind that the molex for a cathode or elwire is not needed... you can hook the inverter directly to any 12v and ground _________________________________________________________ .

Here's probably a stupid question for you. On you tutorial, you have the DVD points in the picture, but there's 2 of them. Do i have to use both of them to power something or can i use them both to power things seperately like 1 perhiperal on one power point and another on the second point and ground them all to the big ground point in the same area?
Thanks

I'm sorry... I am so very sorry but I've stared at this topic for quite a while now and had resisted all temptation but I just can't do it anymore Captain....
I'm sorry, this adds nothing to the topic.

Austin Powers: I said mole.
