Just read the following on 1up and thought i'd share.

Quote:

Not since Solid Snake picked up a skateboard and shredded the Big Shell has the gaming world seen a conceptual crossover as audacious as Gears of War: Golf.

Wait...what?

Yes, Marcus Fenix and friends may be getting into the grand old game of golf -- at least according to the guys at qj.net who claim to have confirmation from the mouth of (Epic boss) Mark Rein that a golf-themed spinoff based on the uber-popular Gears of War franchise is cooking up as we speak.

Apparently some of the guys over at Epic recently sat in on a session hosted by a Korean publisher on the subject of "how to make casual games on the Unreal 3 engine". Considering that the creators of Gears actually wrote the engine in question, you figure that something as straightforward as a golf mod would be within their technical grasp. Says Rein: "... so we got an animator to make a golf swing for Marcus Fenix, and then a programmer took one of the Gears levels and added some mounds and stuff to make a course." Add in a few modifications to the grenade throwing script, and voila -- Golf of War.

Sadly, the project is strictly an internal thing over at Epic right now, but keep your fingers crossed and maybe we'll see Marcus hitting the links in the form of some downloadable content (or dare we hope, a separately released minigame) sometime soon. Admit it: If there's one thing that would improve your normal Sunday 18 holes it would be a torque bow and a horde of subterranean locusts wearing plaid and riding around in heavily armored 6 wheel drive golf carts.

Now normally i'd submit a news item about something like this but I call Bu****it on this news item.

So any one fancy "Golf of War"
