yup, no reason why not.. Smile

All you need to do is setup the computer with INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING (ICS) turned on.. ICS is available in all well nearly all versions of windows.. ehehhe

You can turn on ICS by viewing the properties of your internet connection (MODEM) and choose the advanced tab..

ICS will force the main pc connected to the internet to a 192.168.0.1 ip address and share to all other pc's on the same ip address range. eg. 192.168.0.2 0.3 0.4 etc etc therefore you may need to edit your XBOX 360 ip to be in the same range..

Apart from that you should be fine.

If you are connecting directly from the PC (running 56k modem) to your XBOX 360 you will need a RJ45 crossover cable.

If you are running through a hub/switch then you will need to use a standard RJ45 network cable.

enjoy the site man.

Under the system blade mate.. On the far right hand side of the dashboard.. Then choose Network... You can manually enter a ip address etc etc or it will automatically try and find one itself.

I have a spare router, if you pay shipping ill ship it off to you. Then all you will need is the adapter.

576 is the optimal MTU for 56k, TCP Optimizer will help your speed even on dialup if you would like to try it out. Not sure if it would fix the issue, but it should atleast help.
