is this a problem for them?

as i see you can buy cooling fans/kits for them?

mine is kept in a TV cabinet with not much room around it? is this bad?

It seems that there are quite a few failures with the 360 and it seems that a large amount of them may be due to heat. Personally, I keep mine well ventilated and wouldn't suggest keeping it in a cabinent unless you are removing it when you play it.

well, mine is on a table with excellent ventilation and mine still overheated infact i just got the box today so that i can send it back to microsoft, this will be my 3rd replacement Sad lol, i guess its all about luck .alot of the 360's work great without any problems, my mate has had his since launch in the uk and he has had no problems.

Wow.... 3rd replacement in less than a year! That reminds me when I first got my 7900GTX on my 3rd one now.

yeah, well at least im getting the good out of my 1 year warranty Laughing Laughing
, anyone know what happens when the warranty ends and your 360 dies?

thanks for the answers lads, think i mite buy one of these cooling aids

do you know how i stand with warranty since i bought it of my mate without a receipt?

do they have some sort of date code in the serial number so i could get it fixed without POP? (like most mobile phones do)

As long as it is within 1 year of maunfacture (date on the rear of the console) and the warrenty seals are intact then MS will repair it for free or send you a refurb'd one. No proof of purchase required.

I know this cos I've bought 3 or 4 from e-bay and had them repaired for free.

I know this happens in the UK, but can't confirm if they do it anywhere else!

yeah no proof of purchase is needed it just goes by the serial number i think, not sure about the US i guess they would be the same too.
