After some experience with xbox one gaming, I now realize that it's not such a big deal about games using the hard drive as some complainers have voiced. It's 500 GB and yes it can run out and you get around 380GB for apps and games give or take. The truth is, if you buy hard copies of games, it does not install the full game to the hard drive, well, at least so far for the games I have. It installs only a small portion of the game. So a 30Gb bluray game may only put 500 mb on the hard drive which could translate to maybe 190 games. It all depends on the games in question on how much the developers choose to put there but I am sure it is based on what will help make the game run smoothly. Bluray is 10 or so times faster than DVD so it is not really needed to install the full game.
Now of course, if you mainly buy the digital version of the games on the xbox live store then well you might just run out of drive space real soon if you want 10 plus games. Some games are small so it's not like each game will take up 30 plus gigs but some sure will.
Anyway, I am all for replacing the xbox one hard drive. I am hoping to be one of the first to do so since I have had lots of work in drive recovery and drive mirroring. We'll see tho. We don't know if MS is protecting the hard drive in any way yet. As this video attests to, you can't just copy the partitions over to have a bigger drive work. So I will look forward to playing around with this once I get a second xbox one. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Yes you can upgrade the HDD Ken. Its a regular SATA HDD and its released by M$ which means 3rd world security. Run a live linux distro, dump the security layer, do your New Egg magic and flash drives with the dump. Trial and error but I can say based on the track record you will find a 1 or 2TB HDD that will accept that flash. M$ does not commision Seagate or WD or anybody else to make a special HDD for them, rather they pick a drive, they flash the security layer and call it good. But ALL major manufacturers HDDs are generic, IE the 250GB is the exact same as the 500GB or 1TB just less storage space. The security layer ios where they dump the "Special" shit that makes an XBOX HDD an XBOX HDD. Just pimpin PC parts plain and simple
XBHacker was not a genius piece of software it was trial and error. When I updated it for Sammy drives it was no smart code move on my part, it was classic trial and error. If you aint paying, who cares if it becomes a paperweight lol

Wow thanks for that tidbit about how M$ does NOT coordinate with drive manufacturers. Good to know.
Are you simply suggesting that people can dump the contents of an xbox one drive by plugging into a spare SATA port of a computer tower and booting to a live Linux CD to read the drive's contents?
I thought the whole point of OG xbox drive locking was to prevent people from using the live linux cd trick to read of the drive's contents and reverse engineer the HDD security?
P.S. Very irritated the poster of the youtube video made it private? Maybe it was unintentional? Does anyone know of any workarounds of websites that let you download or view those private videos. 'pwnyoutube...' doesn't work for downloading the video it seems

While what you say maybe true, there was nothing stopping MS from doing propitiatory firmware and or rom chips on drives. Not saying they do either but they could have easily done this. Wang did on all there drives no matter who they got them from. We were able to capture their firmware and flash off the shelf drives making a killing in those days. Yup a $200 SCSI drive off the shelf that we would turn into a Wang drive and make $1000 on it. However, then there's the drives they had special resistors and ROM chips for them to only work on Wang systems and security keys, then you had to go to another level. We would take the chips from bad Wang drives and replace the generic ones. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!
