Hey everyone,
If you know me at all by now you would know that I have loved helicopters, jets, and planes since the day dot and have flown loads of RC helicopters in my time, but this time i have been thinking alot about getting my PPL for a helicopter or maybe an ultralight heli, don't laugh at me I'm not into the lingo yet.
Anyway, I just thought I'd ask to see if anyone here has there pilot's licence or has maybe even started to learn to fly a heli or a plane.
Feel free to make a reply!
Here's a video, which might make you think again about flying your own helicopter one day.

With all those Kills in BF3 with choppers why getting a license?
I would love to fly GA or a small "chopa" the problem is that (at least here) licenses are very expensive.
What I know from friends of mine is that Sydney have some the best schools for that.
PS: Do you play FSX? _________________________________________________________

Well that's one thing I am apparently not able to do due to my colour blindness which is fly planes and helicopters. Not sure why though.
I say if the hearts there do it.

Colour Blindess is also know as Daltonism (because John Dalton was the guy who scientifically discovery it)

I remember my first solo flight. you find your self looking around the inside of the aircraft every once in a while to convince yourself you are really alone and on your own. and there is only one way you are getting back on the ground in one piece and thats to do it yourself.
My first solo cross country flight was a blast as well, an incredible sense of freedom and independence.
It is great for getting dates, I had never once had a girl turn me down for a date when I invite her to lunch at an airport on the coast and we we will be taking the plane.
I have not been up in over a year due to finances, Plan on getting back up this summer and take that flight to Catalina Island I have been putting off. Its only 26 miles or so of over the ocean flying but it still makes you nervous, My biggest fear would be having to ditch in the ocean. Also the runway at Catalina is interesting to negotiate with the drop off at the end and the odd wind currents.
I'm a single engine airplane guy myself, but have considered going for a helicopter rating if I ever get where i could afford it.
A pilot buddy of mine went up in a nice helicopter a friend of his owns and got to try it out, He said flying it was like riding a unicycle and juggling at the same time.

I have never flown anything except models and simulators, my dream when I left school was to become a pilot of some kind but I guess I got side tracked and moved into computers more. It was easier. lol
It would be very interested to see how it would feel all alone, trusting only your own judgement, adrenaline would be running high..
My plan is over the next 5 to 10 years is to have my Helicopter Private Pilot Licence... So when i get closer to retiring I can look into a helo of some kind.[/quote]
It's an expensive hobby, but so is doing up cars and modding them with turbos and superchargers etc etc.. lol..
Keep your fingers crossed for me, I work for an airline company so hopefully I can somehow work out to get my PPL that way! _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:
