Hey guys, I have spent the last few days browsing the site and im very impressed so congrats to all of ye on that. Now first off i have to admit that I am a complete and utter noobie so be nice!!especially if what i ask comes across as dumb!
Anyway, i just have a quick question. I had a 20gb hardrive for my xbox 360 that had become full so i bought a 60gb one second hand and transferred all my data over to it. Basically im wondering can i do anything cool with the 20gb hard drive that i now have spare. By "something cool" i mean along the lines of putting emulators etc on it or whatever. I like playing on xbox live so i figured i could use by 60gb hard drive for that and the 20gb for other purposes?? Im somewhat familiar with homebrewing as my sister did it with her wii. Do i necesarrily have to do that with my xbox???
The disk drive firmware needs to be flashed in order to run any home brew stuff, right now all you got is a spare 360 or PC hard drive.

Ah shucks!!!!disasterous!!!My buddy has an xbox with the ring of death that i may be able to borrow....so im gona look to maybe do something with that! Thanks a lot for your response man!!
Unfortunately if the xbox has been recently bought or if it's been online the past year or so, then the chances of your console ever running homebrew is very slim.
The method of getting homebrew (emulators, etc.) was through the JTAG hack which consisted of the xbox being opened up and be soldered, etc. Although you can be able to do gamesave modifications although they aren't popular like they use to be. _________________________________________________________

As far as i know it is an old model xbox 360 and has never been connected to xbl so hasnt got any firmware updates or anything. I take it the best tutorials are contained somewhere on this site so ill take a look around. Ideally though ill prob take a look on youtube for the visual step by step also! Anybody recommend any of the videos out there? Again, thanks for yer help!!really appreciate it!

MS has thought of you offline guys too, if any game has been played that was made after the update was released, the game will update your system too.

Those saucy so-and-so's!! I have my normal xbox 360 for online gaming etc. This is an experiment with a surplus xbox 360 my friend has which got the ring of death. I was so impressed with what my sister did with homebrewing the wii that I really want to try to do with with the xbox. I do mainly want it for emulators and roms tho. Im very much a sucker for my retro gaming!!
Ah, but team xecuter is working on something to run games from that 20gb harddrive, but the console will still need to be opened, and xbl will be experimented on us guys who have a couple of systems to test with.
Stay tuned on this site as soon as it is released, it will be posted. Looking at $100 plus shipping for the controller though...ouch
