I believe microsoft have limited the size of any EXTERNAL USB drive you connect to the 360 for gamesave storage etc. However, if you want to store your own movies you can just format any USB drive and then access it from the Videos blade!

so in answer to your question, the limit is set by microsoft and no we cannot change it.

For use for a xbox 360 memory support max allowed is 16 gb no matter what besides of course authentic ms xbox 360 harddrives and the xbox 360 hd hack which could get you banned. Thats why peeps can use flashdrives now instead of ms harddrives. Only for content and game saves nothing really good for game storage like the whole game. some flashdrives are slower then others but you can use external hds but no matter the size you will have a 16gb limit for ms content and game content

other guy yours probably works for movies and all that but i dont think you would be able to save 400+gb of xbox content to it ms would not allow it.

What i am really wondering is if you have a external drive and partition it into 16gb sectors would that allow you to use each one as its own Smile

There is no limit on External USB Drives for movies etc just like scarface said.. Smile Just thought i would confirm this.

I have several drives mostly 500gb and i plug them into any of my 360's and just watch my divx/xvid movies.. pretty cool that they finally allowed it! Before we had to stream and transcode the movies on a pc to WMV formats.

Hope the answers help you armysapper17.

The External USB drives work fine for film content...I Have never got a Matroska (MKV)film to play on a 360.

Yea divx and xvid work.

But hey...i ant payed M$COFT for xtra codecs.
May be MKV would work if i did pay for more codecs.

Just saying that the 360 will not play all codecs.
