TRYING TO WATCH A MOVIE THATS ON MY COMPUTER ON MY XBOX. I KEEP GETTING AN ERROR SAYING I NEED AN UPDATE. I DON'T HAVE THE INTERNET IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET THE UPDATE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH XBOX LIVE.

Unfortunatly you will need to get the update as the update includes codecs which are needed for your video file to play.

Turn your caps off as well when posting, it's like you're shouting Smile
Go to the download center on a friends computer and download it to a memory stick, now insert the stick and update. Just one thing, how old is the dashboard? I thought it came with the last update automatically.
One other problem is that the update might not fix your issue as the xbox is reading it is an .avi or whatever container file, still the codec itself might be different. I suggest using tversity to run as a media server on your home computer and installing the CCCP codec pack, as it is fully supported on the tversity forums.
