Hello, Newbie here so go easy!!

I have a fault with my DVD drive so went and purchased a new drive before reading into what i sholud do to identify it !!

Anyway, i have ended up with a Hitachi drive and found that the drive i want to replace is actually a Toshiba drive.

Is it possible for me to use the new Hitachi drive, if so how.
Or do i need to by a Toshiba drive?

Hey Gringo,

Welcome to the HQ's..

What you are looking to do is called "Spoofing". I've had to do it many may times so ive written a tutorial to help everyone.

How to Replace/Spoof a Xbox 360 DVD Drive

Basically you can replace any brand drive you like. When you backup the firmware you will trick the drive into reporting that is the exact original model you had in the first place..
