Even though the potential to increse the speed is there, they really can't do that as that would mess up current games on the new hardware and if they do they new games would run slow on the old hardware, it'd mess to much up to make a faster chip.
Think of all of the issues that some games have with the DreamX box, have to have all kinds of patches to make some games work right as they had a lot of processor clock dependent code. _________________________________________________________

with the 360 i dont think any of the code is processor speed dependant.... the xbox was designed to hand 100% of the system power and resources, and had no multi-tasking capability built in. the 360 on the other hand is made to multi-task, it always has the dashboard running in the background, with options to notify you of incoming messages requests etc. because of this i suspect all the games would need be designed with internal clock speeds instead of processor-based clock
i saw a couple articles on this, and at least one of them said it was not changing specs, just die size to reduce power consumption price and heat _________________________________________________________ .
