well i have a a RCA F38310 38" 16:9 HDTV with Built-In DirecTV and HDTV Receivers

and im stil having a hard time to really determine my tv hd mode

as most of you know i have a xbox 360 with hd cables... and a RCA F38310 38" 16:9 HDTV with Built-In DirecTV and HDTV Receivers

now i dont know how to determine what quality is my tv set up or how i can make my 360 in highest hd quality... but i was researching and found out this ....

http://www.graskinhometheatre.bigstep.com/generic38.html

i copyed and paste a breif info but the link is here... PLEASE if you guyz can give me a time of ur life to read this entire page lol thx .

What’s more, the F38310 is one of the very few HD's that is not HD-ready or HD-upgradable, but is, in fact, a bona fide HDTV.

How Fine Is The Picture?
RCA states that the screen is measured at a 0.78mm center dot pitch and is capable of 1280 horizontal x 1080 vertical lines of resolution (or 2,000,000 pixels), which not only puts it far into the HD resolution ball park, but very, very close to true 1080i resolution.

But Can It Dance?
I don't know about dancing, but the F38310 definitely shines. It delivers a sharp, detailed and colorful picture with very good depth-of-field. The color accuracy is said to be very close to the 6500° Kelvin, the NTSC standard, right out of the box; it also has excellent black retention.

oh btw : sjohn i knew i was right about a burn in image.. but it turns out both u n me were right ....

Quote:
The picture is bracketed with vertical gray bars to prevent burn-in.

Honestly i dont care if this tv sounds crap or shit or anything like that to any other members so if u guyz wanna shout it out go ahead but i would really apriciate if you guyz can tell me what hd mode is it .... so for what i can tell its a 1080i thnanks again bye ......

yeah it should be 1080i or maybe even since it says

but very, very close to true 1080i resolution.
it might be 720p, you just need to hope that its 1080i for maximum Graphics

You've got a really odd tv, it's not quite 720p as the vertical resolution is too much, but it isn't quite 1080i as the horizontal resolution isn't quite large enough. I would recommend using 720p as that's the one closest to the right format (as far as width goes. It may display it letter boxed though. Never saw a tv with this resoltuion. It says 16:9, but that's really just the actual glass dimensions, the resolution seems more like 4:3, not sure why they did that.

I attached a paint image of the different resolutions to kinda compare what you have to the other two types, as you see it's about 2/3 of the 1080's width, but it's 1/3 bigger than 720's height.

Btw, you just actually made me right, as they added something to reduce burn-in. That means crt is actually possible to get burnin. If you look at any type of plasma display they will have very similar technology, thus you could also say that by your reasoning that plasmas aren't susceptible to burnin either. And LCDs definitely do not burnin, as it's just pixels that turn on and off, therefore the worst that could happen is a pixel stick to one color (rgb) or completely go out, this doesn't really hurt near as much as a burnin. As it's a single pixel instead of an image that just won't go away. DLP can kinda have the same problem as LCD if one of the million mirrors on the chip gets out of alignment or dust or something on it, but it's not really noticible.

use the 360 dash and go to the very right blade, i think its system or hardware or something. as long as the hd cables are plugged in, you can adjust the video resolution output between 480, 720, and 1080. just kick it up to 1080 and if you get a good picture then keep it there. if it doesnt display right, then try the 720...

hey lol i was about to say that..... well after reserach and reading the tv book completely and hrs of hrs reading it seems like this hdtv is in fact 1080i.... how i figure out ???? simple well when i went to the settings and i saw that it said 480p and widescreen.... now u can alter the screen option to be normal... then i read it had 2 more options as u metioned... 720p and 1080i and it said if it cuts off after 10 secs then it would return to previous setting.... so i tryed 720p and it flicers and cuts off... 10 secs latler back to 480p ..... then i cross fingers tryed 1080i and VOILA! 1080i works awesome.... and i cannot change the screen option no more so its widescreen always....

diffrense? well 480p looks darker more texture as wehre 1080i is brighter and the colors seem less hevy .......

SO I CONSIDER THIS RESOLVED !!!!.....
