So after finding out my warranty expired and not having the money to dish out for a new one i decided to fix the 3 rrod myself. tore it apart, removed the x-clamps added new thermal paste to the gpu and cpu and reconnected the x-clamps. put it all back together and now the thing refuses to power back on and the light on the psu stays orange. i took the motherboard back out of the case and put on top of a box to rule out the grounding out but still the same results. on a second note i know power is getting into the motherboard, on the front left side (right behind the eject button) there is 2 points that get QUITE hot as soon as i plug the psu into the 360 without even hitting the power button...
yes i did that. in my post i said i even took the motherboard out of the case itself and sat it on a cardboard to rule out the fact of it grounding out
only other person i know who has a box around here is my brother which his psu cable differs from mine and wont plug in. is there any way to reset the motherboard? thinkin maybe something happened in the process of putting new thermal paste on.
