So my 360 is out of warranty as of next week so i want to check with you guys here before i do anything with it. Since i really havent learned anything technical about the 360 as of yet i was wondering what kind of mods are out there...if it is still just all firmware or is there hardware mods i can perform that are fun mods....or maybe something that will help it perform better...now i do plan on flashing my firmware but is there anything else i should know before i do anything with it.

As for software Mods all there is right now is firmware and that lets you run backups of games you legally own.

For Performance there is a few:

X-Clamp Replacement (the most common problem of RROD)
http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm

While your changing the x-clamps you might as well change the thermal paste to get that added cooling (mentioned in the tut above)

Then another one you can do is put some cardboard on top of the gpu heatsink (so it forces air to suck through the whole heatsink) and then get some electrical tape and tape the edges of the fan shroud so it forces air to be sucked through the heatsinks and not slip in through the cracks (I can post pictures later today)

If you really want to go the extra mile you could add a fan in near the cpu heatsink or get something like the xcm core cooler v1 to keep things cool, or you could even get the talismoon whisper which is more quiet than the stock fans and move more air.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Cooling mods and the x-clamp fixes are worth doing.
