Ok so.... My connection is suppper bad right now, and has been for a while.. I'm trying to get my local internet company to figure out whats going on but that probly wont do anything...does anyone no of anything that will help it? I saw a gaming router a while back, does anyone no if that is any good?? _________________________________________________________ XBL: H3 BuLL3T

gaming routers are just normal routers with a gigabit ports so everything that goes through it are at gigabit/second speed, provided that the devices connected to it support it. Some wireless routers have faster Wireless speeds and consider themselves "gaming routers" also
Most cable/dsl modems are 10Mb/s so a 100mb/s router should suffice unless you have two computers that both support 1gb/s network speeds then a gigabit router would help with file transfer directly between the computers.
But seeing as you said your connection is bad I would think it is either your ISP is really slow, or if it is hooked up wirelessly, than you have a slow router or you need to reposition your antenna/router/console or maybe even get a repeater
Could you please have some more details on your problems and we’ll see what we can do to help.
Once again welcome to the site, and if you have any other questions feel free to ask _________________________________________________________
I am using a linksys broadband router with the 360 connected with a belkin gaming adapter. It works beautifully. I have dsl by the way. I find that using linksys anything for your router is the way to go. It seems to be xbox live friendly. And the belkin gaming adapter was only 60 bucks versus 100 for the 360 network adapter. If you want to try a diffrent setup then the one you have try this. It works great! Hope this helps and welcome to 360 HQ! _________________________________________________________

Im still new to using a router so cant help too much, but 2 things Ill throw in...
First I think there are routers for gaming that basicly are set up to give priority to a port used for gaming over all other devices. But thats for if you are using other devices at same time.
Second just for the hell of it you can go to the link below to test your internet speed, upload and download speeds, you can use this to see if it is your Internet speed that is the problem and also if you find your actual speed is much lower than your provider promises then you can pass that info on to them. try the link below.http://www.speedplexer.com/?gclid=COXUoc_11ZECFQkSagodOmPRaQ I just started using this one and like it. You need to down load it but its a fast easy download, or you can search for others the will test you on the site with no downloading anything. anyway here is a pic of a test I just did, took about 30 seconds to do upload and download test.
I did have a couple other windows open, not sure how much that would effect the speeds. But it seems to be plenty for me to game on Xbox live with no lag.

I have DSL, the speed is suppose to be 500 kbps, but the DL speed is mid-low 200's. I have Cat 5e...idk if the little e means anything?? I have a lynksys, but i dont think that matters really because even if i plug my 360 directly into my modem its still bad...i called the company today so we'll see if they do anything..would it help if i use shorter cords or anything? _________________________________________________________ XBL: H3 BuLL3T

If its plugged directly in to the modem then it is your ISP, and unless you have bigger than a 150ft cord I wouldn't worry about cord length _________________________________________________________
