Hey all.

Pretty soon I will be upgrading to a projector, 1080p and want some feedback on some good makes/models (UK, hopefully)

I'm going to use it with a screen coming down from the ceiling and will run it off either VGA or Component, I know some TV's do not support 1080p in anything other than HDMI.

Thanks Guys.

Well,

Ive had a HD projector for sometime now..
It supports all HD formats and 16:9..

I went with the best bang for my buck when it came to buying or should i say upgrading my old projector to HD. Now that i have the new one i rarely use it seriously.

I have a BENQ HD projector. God knows what model now.

My HD plasma just is way to good as it is for me to want to use my projector much.. I normally only turn it on for movies now..

Really? So a 70"+ screen is not what you game on mostly?

With your HD projector does it support all resolutions over Component? or is it d-sub?

As a side note the room is about 12 foot (4meters) wide so I see you get projectors with different zoom lenses to give larger images closer to the screen.

Also anything over £2k would be pushing it.

I paid around £2k for the one i have. And that without the additional lens.
My loungeroom isnt exactly small either so you would think that i would love gaming on the projector more.

let me give you a hint.. You will have a sore neck from looking from side to side.. lmao.. Its good for car games but even then your looking around the screen way too much.

I have a 127cm or so plasma and it does the job.. Occassionally and i mean occassionally i may turn it on for some 360..

Whats the extra lens for?

I think having to look side to side will be appealing to me, especially while on Forza 2.

Yours is projected onto a wall right? How does that work? Problem is mine is a light colour wall.

Epson I am looking at

Well you can get all sorts of lenses for your projector so you can place it in different areas and other room setups.

Yup, my projector is on the wall.. Its nice of a nighttime but of a day my loungroom gets way too much sun.. You can still watch of a day but the color and clarity just aint there till the room darkens up.

I was going to get a dropdown screen but once i got my HD plasma i rarely use the projector anymore.. I guess i will use it again with forza 2 and my sterring wheel though i must admit.

btw.. that projector looks nice.. Im not fussed on brands when it comes to projectors.. I just want the best bang for my buck..

But when it comes to other home audio/tv equipment i wont buy anything but PIONEER now.. I used to have SONY gear but its shit..

I'll have to try and find some other makes that do 1080p.

Well actually, is it enough of a difference to fork out alot of money?

P.S This is being posted on the newly released Safari 3 beta for XP/Vista.
